iTunes error -42401, is this a glitch?
I updates iTunes with the latest 8.1 version. Now when I try to play a perviously purchased song, it asks for authorization. After I enter my password it gives me the -42401 error message saying that a required component of iTunes was not installed. But attempts at re-installing iTunes 8.1 give me the same result. How will I be able to play my purchased songs?

I haven't heard of this problem. One thing that you should do is go to: http://www.apple.com/support/
After sometime on the page a chat option should show up in the top left corner. You will be connected to an apple technician and they can walk you through the solution.

wow thats actually pretty cool that you got an unheard of error, report it to an apple tech and act really pissed off well you talk to them and try and get some free itunes codes for songs out of them! i wish i had the error lol.

I got the same error and no matter what I do...reinstall iTunes, it still gives me the same error message
