    4/20 or 1/5

the 4 represents the number of orange ones, and the twenty is the total number of gumdrops

the 1/5 is a simplified version

When you do probability, you normally say it's a ____out of _____ chance of something happening. The second blank would be the total amount of items you have. The first number is the amount your pulling out, in this situation.

So if you add up the number of gumdrops, you find there are 20 gumdrops. There are 4 orange gumdrops. So there's a 4 out of 20 chance you'll pull out an orange gumdrop. If you imagine it as a fraction (4/20) you could reduce the probability. So really, there's a 1 out of 5 chance you'll pull an orange gumdrop.

    4/20 = 1/5

number of oranges / number of gumdrops

Well this is not that hard.

Just add all the numbers, you get 2+4+3+11 = 20

There are 4 orange. Hence the Odds are 4/20 = 1/5

    There you go.

    have a nice day.
