How tough are toyota trucks?
I bought a 85' Toyota pickup with the solid straight axle. This seems to be a popular selling point, but exactly how tough is it? Some people are pretty rough with these trucks. How much abuse can they really take? I like to go off roading and recently bottomed out my axle on some rocks. There wasn't any noticable damage though. Should I be concerned or are those axles so solid I shouldn't even worry about it?

I had a 83 and 87 both solid axles. Both lifted one with 33 one with 35. Both I beat to hell. Never broke a drive shaft or axles. Had a friend that had a 85 with 35's thing wheeled pretty good. The only downfall to Yotas in the 80"s are that the frames and beds rot. Anyone that has or had a Toyota loves them . If you go wheelin Toyotas are great. I used to keep up with jeeps and other trucks with lockers. Small and compact can't beat that

You own a truck that is 25 years old. What do you think? Personally I would go with GMC, Chevy, or Jeep. These are the off road vehicles that I grew up with.
