My ipod froze ...what can I do to start or stop it?

My ipod classic (360GB) just froze up while I was playing vortex game on it..I think the battery was low but I thought I could just plug it in and it would be ok. I can't get it off or on or anything..There is only a blank white screen on it and I can't even turn it off. Could you please help if you know what might cause this or how I can fix it? Thank you.

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Hold down the Center and Menu button for 5 seconds to reset your iPod. You will lose no data. If this fais, connect your iPod to iTunes and restore it. This WILL delete everything. Good luck and I hope you don't lose anything!
