Dishwasher OVERFLOW, is overflowing all over. The little overflow on the sink is spitting out water everywhere?

I have checked to the best of my ability to check for a clog the garbage disposal is working the other side of the sink is working and all of the sudden today when I ran the dishwasher the little overflow type of think that is near the faucet on the kitchen sink started POURING water everywhere. I looked inside the dishwasher and do not seem to see anything wrong. Should I be looking elsewhere. What steps should I take next. I obviously dont want to call a plumber unless I have to and in that case I will probably just stop using the dishwasher, money is tight right now. I have limited plumbing knowledge but any ideas would be great! Should I put some type of drano in the drains or in the dishwasher drain? all help is welcome.

Thanks

    No Drano.

Disconnect the hose that runs from the air vent to the garbage disposal and remove it. Take it outside and clean it out really good with the hose.

Then make sure the nipple that the hose attaches to on the disposal is clear and reconnect the hose.

You should have no more problems.

Just because your sink drain keeps up with the faucet, doesn't mean it isn't slightly clogged. Your dishwasher's drain pump puts out water much faster than most faucets ever dreamed of. Try putting the stopper in the disposer side, fillin the sink, and with the faucet running, pull the stopper and start the disposer. this will create a pumping action on the drain and may blow out a partial clog.. hot water is better especially on grease based clogs which most kitchen clogs are.

First I would unscrew the trap under the sink, put a bucket under it and just look in at the drain pipes for debris. The volume of water that comes out of dishwasher is greater then from just using garbage disposal. After you put back together fill the sink with hot water and then open drain. If this does not solve you problem you will need to buy a tape snake from Home Depot and snake out the line.Good Luck

You'll just have to dip the water out by hand! Seriously, you should be able to advance the cycle using the control knob to the drain cycle. Let it drain the water that;s already in it, then turn it to the rinse cycle and start it again there. And next time, use a detergent meant for the dishwasher. Ordinary dish soap is deliberately formulated to produce lots of suds because Americans are too friggin' stupid to realize the suds DON'T make any difference as to how good a job the detergent does! We see few suds we think the dishes aren't gonna get clean. We dumb!

Do you have the sink stopper in the drain in your sink? Check that...if it is take it out, it could be that the drain is not getting enuf air to work properly.
