My Goldfish has sunk!?
My partner has had a goldfish for about 10 years, he is quite big as he was kept in a pond. We cleaned out the pond yesterday and he was under a plant pot on his side.
I think the other fish have been picking on him as he has wounds on his scales.
I have removed him and brought him indoors in a large tank on his own but he is at the bottom breathing flapping to get around and can swim if you help him out.
ANy ideas suggestions would be great!
Thanks in advance

The wounds may not be from the other fish. They may be ulcers caused by a bacterial infection. - http://www.exoticgoldfish.net/care-sickness.html#u... - That site has explanations of common diseases (with pictures) and links to medication you can use. If treated, the goldfish will probably recover, and the woulds will heal in time.
Make sure you raise the temperature of his tank to the 80s (not over 90F though). And adding aquarium salt would help. That link has instructions on how to do a salt dip or salt bath, but I am not sure how effective that will be against a bacterial infection. Could be worth a try.

You aren't the only one. My stepmom came home with a ton from a pond and put them in our tank( the home she took them from was being taken down) They were attacked by other fish in the tank but we would loudly tap the glass when we saw this occur. Also we put them in a smaller tank within the bigger one for a while till the other fish got used to them being there...Good luck! :D

I'm sorry to say that it sounds like he is on his way out. Try consulting a reputable pet shop.
