If a politician campaigns for office how can said politician then claim he inherited the problems?

He didn't inherit anything. He purposefully, forcefully, expensively, passionately Campaigned For Office and all of its glories and problems. He knew exactly what he was doing and can't cry foul now. He did not inherit anything. He Wanted the office. Now he's got it.

Well since you are talking about Obama he was a member of the Senate and did not introduce any legislation to stem off these problems so one can conclude the problem Obama inherited is one he helped create in the first place so his claim can be considered an admission of incompetence.

His predecessor made major problems with regards to the economy and foreign affairs. And yes, Obama himself was in Congress and he, along with the 400+ other members failed us miserably (that includes John McCain by the way). And he knew that these problems existed when he accepted the Presidency. That does not mean that he is solely to blame for what has happened. He is making the effort to correct and improve the situation now. Is it reasonable to expect 70 days as being adequate time to expect signs of a recovery? He is asking for patients on the part of the American People. Of the 12.4 trillion allocated since December 2008 by Congress only 2.5 trillion has actually been spent. The bulk of that money has gone to Wall Street and Congress earmarks so far. The remaining 9.9 trillion has the potential for doing something to improve the economy. It is far too soon to say that the effort has been a failure. Bush had 8 years to make the "trickle down" economy a success. Conservatives here like to say that it began with Carter or with Clinton. Isn't that the same thing as saying Bush inherited the problem?
