Distribute, first.

2n - 14 = -1

2n = 13

n = 13/2

2(N-7)= -1

step 1: multiply what is in the brackets by 2

2N-14=-1

step 2: you have to get rid of -14, so you add 14 to both sides to get rid of it

step 3: -14 and +14 cancel each other out. add -1+14

step 4: you have to get N by itself so you have to divide all terms by 2.
