Colorado: Serious. I work in Boulder, went to UCD (Univ of Colorado@Denver) and I have family that goes to CU Boulder. My boss wears hawaiian shirts to work ...so I don't think we're that serious! CU is a fantastic campus and it's known for it's parties, but it's also a great school in a great location, close to everything: hiking, biking, skiing, shopping, 30 min. to Denver, and in a cool, funky, hip town. Good luck in your decision, but my vote is for CU. Get out of Florida and experience life somewhere else, you can always move back after school!

I am originally from California but attended CU in Boulder from 2003-2007. My freshman year we were ranked #1 party school in America. Since then CU has tried to downplay this reputation as much as possible, but I don't think you will find Boulder too serious at all. I think it has a great balance of academics and fun. There is something for everyone, and in general Colorado is an extremely laid back state. I know nothing about UCF, but I doubt you would be disappointed with a decision to attend CU.

Boulder is a beautiful town, there is great shopping and dining, plus lots to do! CU is a great school, for whatever you are going to do. they have great athletic programs as well as academics. CU definitely has the college life, it even probably has more parties that UCF (assuming the words college life and fun, you would want to party lol). It might seem serious, but trust me there are plenty of partygoers and there are some very adventurous and outgoing people. So its really easy to make friends.

Count on needing a week to get used to the higher elevation. Other than that, I have no advice to offer on the subject.
Oh, the computer does offer you a chance to pick your category when posting a question on YA. I know this from experience.

You didn't pick it? The computer did? WHY? YOU are supposed to pick the category. When you go to post a question, there is a page where it ASKS you where you want to post...if you want good answers, then you CHOOSE where you want your question posted.
