I don't think I've decided yet, I'm 24. I pretty much just do whatever I think I might like and try it. I worked in a warehouse for awhile and wound up being a manager before I hurt myself. Then I moved to California and worked as a ski instructor at a hotel. Then I worked as a stockbroker for a short time (that was lucrative but I really hated it) and then I moved back to Alaska and now I sell cars which is a pretty good fit because I'm smooth and get the chance to flirt every now and then. One day I want to be a politician.

I didn't decide. Life just kind of decided for me. I'm going to devote this part of my life studying business and getting some type of stable (or mostly likely not in this economy) management job after I graduate college. I did have a hard time choosing this path. I chose it because it'll be easier for me to get a job straight out of my undergraduate studies without having to go to grad school which I cannot afford. My main interest is Philosophy and Greek. I study them both part time and I plan to keep studying them and exploring my interests in those areas for the rest of my life. My career with have nothing to do with my interests, but I like it that way.
Don't worry so much because you will eventually realize what you will do with your life. It might take years from now and you might have already embarked on a fulfilling career path, but don't let that get you down. Also go with what you love... or what's easiest. But if you choose not to go with what you love then you can always incorporate it into your life like I did.

The best laid plans of mice and men oft go a stray and leave us naught but grief and pain for promised joy.
----- Robert Burns (Ode to a Mouse)
We at the height are ready to decline.
There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyages of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
We must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures. ( Julius Caesar IV.ii.218–224)
Beware of life. It will steal you away.
Don't think that you can do everything, You may not be able to. So why take the chance? Do what you know you can do and nothing more.
To live a life filled with passion, one must choose that which is one's passion. No life is more fulfilling than a life lived with passion. It gives all and demands all but is always worth it.

I also followed my interests when young and in my 20's. I was interested in psychology, so became a mental health worker (non-licensed) I also loved to write, so I did that as a hobby for years.
I got burned out with the crazies, so went to work as a gov't paper-pusher, then a mgr for awhile. Pretty soon my writing got noticed, I started getting published and became a magazine columnist. I still do that part-time now. Also, I was always interested in real estate, so I started buying duplexes. I have 4 now, and have a cescent income from them. So; just follow your heart. You're allowed to change your mind later. Go for what interests you and makes the most logical use of your skills for now. You'll change careers 3 0r 4 times, but that's okay! :)

"If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there".
It has taken me 56 yeats to figure out the answer to the question you asked. I may never have come up with it on my own. I worked with a professional career counselor who helped me identify my skills and interests and then matched them with potential careers. I then researched those careers that were of most interest to me. At that point the selection became obvious.
My advice to you is to get some professional guidance to help you make the right choice for yourself.
Good Luck!

I have always been awe inspired by space, the vastness of it, the infinite possibilities that could exist out there, and the more we learn about it the more we learn about ourselves, so I decided to pursue a career related to astronomy. I chose aerospace engineer as my goal and while I'm doing that I could always apply for a space agency lol. Either way, I just know I want to contribute to the study or exploration of space, so that's what I chose.
Try finding a field of interest that moves you, and research a career that contributes to that field of interest. It's more than just about our own goals, it's also about what we can contribute to society as a whole. I also had an insane amount of hobbies, but I had to drop most of them to make time for the most important ones to me. I also was pulled in many different directions for choosing a career, but I just had to remember that space was my major interest above all else, and so I decided to pursue a space related career.
People tend to get caught up in other peoples dreams and hobbies, just question yourself from time to time, do I really want to do this? Do I want to make time for it?
Unfortunately we can't live for like 3 thousand years and do everything we want to do lol, you have to fine tune your preference and priorities.

Consider which are your strong subjects for the past 3 years, what are your skills, hobbies and talents. Ask opinions from your parents, relatives and close friends. If you have singing, dancing, acting, painting, hosting, photography or other talents, go for auditions and contests. All these will narrow down your choices, so you can focus on your career in life. Best of luck! :-))

Actually I had and still have many interests. I picked the one I have the most passion for and go for it. My wife is very supportive, and actually I could care less what my side of the family;y thinks about my attempts.
