A question about Nickelback lyrics?

Let me put this as succinctly as possible. I'm not even a woman and I find their lyrics absolutely REPULSIVE. Not because I'm a prude and cannot handle racy content. I just have a problem with anything that shows blanket disrespect to women in general. The song isn't funny nor clever, just moronic. Their lyrics are so stupid that they basically disrespect and insult the entire human race. Something in Your Mouth is just the latest example of why Nickelback is the worst group going right now but that isn’t the first time they’ve disrespected the opposite sex. They brought their trailer trash world to the mainstream with Figured You Out back in 2003. How any woman can claim to be a fan of this band is beyond me. Then again, I’ve never figured out why they like Eminem either.

Many people often look at Nickelback's lyrics on the surface. "Something In Your Mouth" is actually about that crazy girl in a club or bar who is desperate for attention and acting rather slutty. There's a lyric that says "you tease them all by sucking on your thumb," so the lyrics "you're so much cuter when you never pull it out" is actually referring to her thumb. I don't think the song degrades women so much as calling out a specific girl for having very little respect for herself. It's the same with the band's song "Rockstar." The lyrics of that song had many people accusing the band of being shallow and glorifying decadence, but the lyrics are actually quite tongue in cheek and are poking fun at the celebrity lifestyle.

Hell, Nickelback is degrading to anybody in possession of as little as two neurons and a barely functioning synapse.

I agree that it is totally degrading. I am definitely a woman in touch with her sexual side, but I would need a gun pointed at my head before I willingly gave up anything to Chad Kroeger. I love suggestive songs, but hate material that makes me feel gross and dirty after listening to it. Ewww...

I am a bit sad today, my mom passed away four years ago on this day, and I miss her terribly.

I'm with you, Color. Sadly, drivel like that gets put on the radio and the sheep eat that sh*t up, which just leads to more drivel being produced. It's a sad, sad cycle. Hope your day gets better!

It isn't degrading to ME personally. It sure as hell make NB look like a bunch of idiots though.

I don't take songs like that personally. I consider the source. I like naughty songs with naughty lyrics. ( and the word naughty rocks too :P) I don't like it when NB trie to do them. I am not 100% sure those guys have lost their virginity yet. Poor guys, how drunk would you have to be to put out for Chad Kroeger?
