What are some good symphonic rock bands? (rock; not metal)?
I love symphonic metal, but that's not what I'm looking for, so no on Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Kamelot, ect.
I want more bands like Globus or Les Friction:
2 AnswersRock and Pop7 years agoAre there buses that run between Canada and the USA?
I need to get to the US for a couple weeks this summer, and I don't have a car, and a flight would likely be over my budget. In Canada, there are Greyhound buses that run between cities, but it's a Canadian company. Is there an American equivilant to Greyhound, and are there any such buses that cross the border?

Shouldn't I be told what music I enjoy, simply because of my age, gender, race, religion, and sexuality?
BQ: who else had about had it with these types of questions?
BQ2: favourite song not sung not in the vocalist's native language? (can't be in English)
13 AnswersRock and Pop8 years agoMore bands like Septic Flesh?
I recently got into Septic Flesh, and I'm looking for more bands like them; death metal with epic syphonic elements, deep guttural vocals, and heavy riffs. If you know of anything like them, please give me a link in your answer.
4 AnswersRock and Pop8 years agoMetal bands that have female vocalists with husky vocals?
I'm trying to find bands that play traditional heavy metal that have a femal vocalist with, as stated above, husky vocals; bands like Sister Sin, Huntress,Doro, and Benedictum.

8 AnswersRock and Pop8 years agoMy laptop keeps restarting itself, help please?
My computer (a 2012 Asus notebook with windows 7) gives me an error message that reads "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically after a minute. Please save your work." after about 3-5 minutes from turning it on. I assume it's a virus, but my computer won't stay on long enough to run a virus scan. What can I do, short of restoring my computer to factory settings? And if I must, how do I go about restoring my computer?
3 AnswersOther - Computers8 years agoCan you reccomend me some good Steampunk works?
I've read plenty of Jules Verne, as well as the Leviathan trilogy, and Airborne; all of which I've liked. I'm looking for something with action and, if possible, a romantic sub-plot. Something set in Europe or an airship would be prefered, but isn't nescesary.
3 AnswersBooks & Authors9 years agoCan you reccomend me some good Sci Fi books?
I like sci fis set in space, featuring aliens, but I like a 'realistic future', sort of like Mass Effect or Halo (especially the idea of an inter-species war). I don't like it when they borderline on fantasy (like say Dune or Star Wars). On top of that, I also love cyberpunks and steampunks.
4 AnswersBooks & Authors9 years agoGreen Lantern fans: Where should I start reading.?
I've recently started getting into American comic books, especially Batman, Daredevil, and Green Lantern. I'm not sure how the chapters in American comic books are set up (I only have expirience with manga), and I want to read about the war between the Green Lanterns and Sinestro Corps (escecially at the part where Liara dies, and Hal turns into a red lantern).
I've tried looking online, but I can't find a site to read comics, so I'll have to buy the physical copy of the comic. The problem is, I know that vintage comic books are both rare and expensive, so I can't start all the way at the first chapter where Hal becomes a lantern. I want to start at a point where I'll be able to understand what's going on, not just randomly in the middle of a fight. Can you reccomend a place to start?
Alternatively, do you know of a site where I can read all the chapters?
2 AnswersComics & Animation9 years agoOne of the most epic metal bands I have come across: Imperial Circus Dead Decadence?
Towards the end of last year, the Melodic Death/Power Metal band "Imperial Circus Dead Decadence" released an album that completely blew me away as to how amazing it was. If you're one of my contacts, you won't be very surprised to find out that this band is Japanese. This album is called "Kurooshiku Saita Seisan na Mukuro wa Kanaderu, Itooshiku Saita Shoujo wa Seisen no Kotoba wo Utau." (yeah, long name)
anyways, here's some links to a few tracks from the album:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD3baPUqa2E
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bJw3lvM1tY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLMVU8ZSEVI (one of the more "brutal" tracks on the album, despite the intro)
MQ: thoughts on the album?
BQ: What is the most "epic" album you've come across recently?
BQ2: Favourite band that combines Melodeth and power metal?
1 AnswerRock and Pop9 years agoWhy is it that there are so many women bassists in metal?
I'v found it strange how there are so many metal bands with female bassists (discounting all female bands: Equilibrium, Chthonic, All That Remains, White Zombie, Bolt Thrower, Obsidieth, ect.) yet there are so few with female guitarists (again no including all-female bands, I can only name 2: Rebelion and HB). You'd think based on the fact that women are generally smaller than men, a female guitarist would be more common than a bassist.
I know people won't be able to give me an answer as to why, so:
MQ: What are some bands (other than all female ones) with women bassists?
MQ2: What are some bands (other than all female ones) with women guitarists?
BQ: Favourite all female bands?

2 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoMetalheads: This is one of the most epic albums I've stumbled upon?
Recently I came across "Eve of Corruption: The Days of Astasia - Part One" by the American power metal band, Lorenguard... Holy crap I was impressed. It reminds me quite a bit of Rhapsody of Fire with a slight tinge of Blind Guardian (most of the BG I hear is in the keys).

2 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoCan someone recommend me some dubstep in the vein of Skrillex?
I know Skillex isn't the most loved DJ in the dubstep underground, but that's the kind of stuff I'm looking for, with the more aggressive sound, distorted synth lines, and less focus on the bass. I think that kind of dubstep is called "brostep" (I hate that it gets that name), but that's what I'm wanting.
3 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoCan someone recommend me some industrial music?
Something in the vein of Nachtmarr, with the dance/electronic style music with harsh vocals:

Feel free to name any group/artist, Nachtmarr's the only one who's name I can recall. I've heard plenty of others I've liked, but that's all I can remember.
8 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoI'm looking for some new school thrash metal bands?
I'm wanting some more thrash metal, and the vast majority of what I like is newer stuff (Cripper, Mutant, Evile, Axegressor, Swashbuckle, ect.) Even with the older bands, with the exception of Metallica, Slayer, and Exodus, I prefer their newer releases (Death Angel, Sodom, Destruction, Testement, Overkill, ect.). Any recommendations for newer thrash bands?
4 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoAnyone know some good Death/Doom metal?
I'm looking for bands that combines the slow, soul crushing riffs of doom metal, and the deep, powerful growls of death metal. (not funeral doom, however).
stuff like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImTQ8hw1zz0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBv8UopGbHE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMcJHhyrvuY (namely the first 40 seconds, and after about the 2:15 mark)
You got anything like that?
(to my contacts that have seen like 4 similar questions to this by me in the past few days, I apologize. I'm just trying to narrow down my search parameters... no need to also answer this question if you've exhausted your list of these kinds of bands in my previous questions)
5 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoI'm looking for some (not melodic) death metal bands. (see description)?
for the longest time, 90% of the extreme metal I've listened to has been Melodeth and I'm wanting to try something heavier. I've tried posting similar questions, but haven't been getting the results I've wanted... probably due to the way I word my questions.
I want bands with high production quality, no scuzz or "rawness", so preferably new bands. In old school/traditional death metal, I prefer Deep growls... but not so "brutal that I can't understand a word they're saying. And I prefer slower, heavy riffs. For example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMcJHhyrvuY (I LOVE the first about 40 seconds of the song, and the choruses. The rest I like too, it's just the parts I mentioned that takes the cake for me)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBfoMgllphs (this is probably my favourite "oldschool" style DM song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLuZpuW9GfM (not exactly pure "oldschool" DM, but it shows the kind of thing I'm getting at)
For Technical/Progressive DM, I like bands with some bit of a melodic element to them. I'm not really sure how else to put it, but basically nothing too brutal. The kind of Tech/Prog Death I'm looking for is like this stuff:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep_9S9WH8TI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OppAuwVdR58
This is NOT what I want:

thanks so much if you take the time to read, listen, and answer.
6 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoNew bands that play old school death metal.?
The vast majority of the death metal I listen to is Melodeth, and I'm wanting to get into some heavier stuff. I know all the major classics of the genre, now I'm looking for bands like Bloodbath and Nervecell. New bands (from around 2000 until now) that play old school death metal. I prefer bands with higher quality production.
Please (if not too much trouble) include youtube links
5 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoCan someone recommend me some good action animes?
My personal favourites are Death Note, Code Geass, Hellsing Ultimate, and Vampire Hunter D. I don't like most mechas I've seen (though I do like Code Geass and Evangelion), and I hate harems, as well as excessive eichi, and Naruto. I like sci-fis and fantasies.
