in many situations once you format a disk, all that occurs is that the report Attributes table is cleared out. the certainly documents that's saved on the disk isn't certainly deleted or overwritten. A low point format certainly is going around the great disk and deletes and resets each and all the disk sectors, effectively destroying each and all the information saved on the disk. in case you have finished a low point format, you sometimes won't be able to get well any information from the disk. besides the undeniable fact that, no longer something's impossible. once you're quite worried approximately destroying documents, the only particular way is actual destruction of the tension disks.

Yeah, Amanda's right, the only way to destroy data on CDR is to snap the disk up, Next time you shop for disks buy CD-RW or DVD-RW, you can delete data of them.

on dvd +r and dvd-r no

on cd +r and -r no

on dvd -rw and +rw yes eraser which somebody else has mentioned or darics, but darics is more for erasing hard disks not cd and dvd. best way to destroy cd`s and dvd`s is the smash them into little pieces. Or if your rich and mad a microwave is handy ;) pretty colours but the microwave wont work for long. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search...

If it's a rewritable CD/DVD or a hard drive then something like Eraser will work (secure shredder application). http://www.heidi.ie/node/14

If it's not a rewritable CD/DVD then throw it in a fire, that'll make the data unrecoverable.
