How often is the best answer ignored and the person chooses their friends instead?

I'd guess that 25% to 33% of the "best answers" are actually BA's awarded to friends and family. It happens all the time. Fortunately, there are also lots of people who actually do choose the "best answer" so at least those of us who sincerely try to give good answers are sometimes rewarded for it.

I know it happens, but I don't think anyone here could give you a number. It doesn't really matter. Many people do choose a Best Answer. Some people don't choose at all. Some don't choose what we might think is the best choice for Best Answer, but maybe it's the best choice for them. And I'm sure some choose a friend's answer just because it's a friend. But think about it. When that happens, the question is probably a ridiculous, pointless, useless question anyway. Because if they REALLY had a problem, they'd want answers that are going to help them... not just any answer because it's a friend's answer.

I dont think I ever noticed that!! The answers I saw are usually relevant and I find it good enough to be the best answer!
