GREAT FUN DRIVING GAMES!?!?!?
Im looking to get a new driving game to tide me over for a while and as far as gameplay and lifespan go im wondering what you might recommend?
Unfortunately a while back I purchased ridge racer 7 over Gran turismo 5 prologue (since RR7 had motion sensor function which ive come to learn isnt that great imo). Biggest mistake I ever made and confirmation as to why I never bought any of the first 6 ridge racers! I plan on trading RR7 and getting something else but im not sure if Gran turismo is my thing. Im looking for something which really stands out gameplay wise but ive always been wary of turismo's whole driving sim thing. I played the demo to motorstorm pacific rift and as fun as it was im just wondering if theres much more to it than just the racing? stuff like career mode and all that jazz...
Any input would be muchly appreciated :)

Motorstorm online is way different than in the demos. I played lots of motor storm and the two big differences are that first, there's always a bunch of idiots who will wreck themselves into have no chance of winning, just for the sake of wrecking you too... and almost everyone plays on "catch-up" servers, where the boost heat gauge increases fast if you're in the lead, and slower for each place back, which practically guarantees people will catch up no matter how many times they wreck. It rewards bad driving.
Gran Turismo 5 is a simulator, but I wouldn't expect it to have good online multiplayer, you can't simulate real racing unless there's rules and penalties for infractions, otherwise it's more fight than race.
Look at the demo for Pure, it is nice graphics though it is really way out there as far as ATV's can't do that, no way. 200-foot leaps across huge chasms... nope.
Ridge Racer is about the least realistic of all the driving games. Supposed to be about drifting, but nothing like real drifting... drifting isn't really used in auto racing anyhow. It's a separate kind of competition.
You could try Grid, maybe... it isn't too realistic physics but it's close enough, and it at least tries to adhere to normal racing things... like cornering speeds, traction, etc. Which most games ignore
RR7 is already old so you probably won't get much for it in trade.

I say that you wait untill the full version of Gran Turismo 5 comes out and in the fall Need For Speed: Shift comes out. Which they are actually going to be similar. Cause Shift is going to be the same style of racing as GT. They are going for a more realistic game for racing.
Just wait, in the long run you'll be happier you did.
Source(s): I am waiting. Those games are going to be sick! - Anonymous1 decade ago
Grand Turismo is the most realistic racing game and it has the most customization.
Motorstorm is the best racing game ever in my opinion.
Burnout Paradise is a racing/crashing/sandbox racing game and its really good.

i never really liked motorstorm.
I really like the game Dirt for ps3.
It is the most realistic racing game that I have ever played.
