We had a convergence chip problem on our wide screen-?
When the tv repair guy came- he replaced the chips, but the focus block went bad- is this normal?

On TV sets, yes...the convergence circuit is nowhere NEAR the focus block.
One is on the picture tube tray, the other is one the Deflection board.
