mad about what State Sen. Luke Kenley is trying to do? If you don't know what I am talking about he is trying to pass a plan that will double the alcohol tax to help pay for the operating of the stupid Lucas Oil Stadium! I hate the Colts!!!

The city of Indianapolis and the surrounding counties have done far more then enough of their share to keep the Colts happy. It is time for the state to stop keep bending over and make the Colts cough it up, or more specifically the Irsays.
It is criminal enough that Hoosiers are still paying for the RCA Dome (that's right folks, even though it is torn down it won't be paid off until 2002 - Indianapolis levied a 1% restaurant tax to pay for it over 30 years). Personally I think the dome should had been preserved and made into part of the convention center - given the economy this makes much more sense instead of "expanding" the convention center with new construction.
Someone suggested raising the cigarette tax. I do not smoke but that is highly unfair. Federal smoking taxes were raised from 31 cents to $1.01 a pack - this will pay for health programs, so if people want to knowingly damage their health we should be able to use part of those funds to pay for the health problems we know will result, so that is justified.
Smokers should not pay for the problems of the Lucas Oil Field ownership - smokers did not create this problem - the COLTS did!! The lure of the Superbowl did, the city and the business community wanting to have the Colts for their precious marketing tool also did.
Another outrage is that high schools regularly rented the RCA Dome for football tournaments and gave many people the opportunity to see the stadium and city they would otherwise see. I worked in a rural farm town near Valparaiso the first five years of my career and many had never been to Indianapolis. I read a recent report that the fees are now so high that this tradition will die for many high schols.
I may live in the Chicago area now but as a Hoosier for 33 years I am outraged about this. It shows that corruption doesn't stop at the Illinois State Line, much as I don't wish Illinois-type shenanigans on anyone else.

Let the people who want the Colts and Pacers around and want them have a place to play pay the bill.
Add $60.00 per ticket for the "fans" and let them pay. Why should people in Northern and Southern Indiana have to pay for downtown Indianapolis? The only people who profit from this are the Indianapolis business owners. Let them pay. Keep the taxes for this inside Marion county, that's where the stadiums are.
The colts and Pacers could all get on the same plane for parts unknown and move out of the state for my money.
We are taxed to death here in the Hoosier state. If the fans do not support these second rate teams, let them leave!
Wasn't the Crybaby Colts extortion tax enough?

Yes, I'm from Northwest Indiana, so I get all of the Chicago area news. I'm more of a Bears fan, myself. Double an alcohol tax to pay for a stadium? I'd much rather they double the cigarette tax, instead. Just be glad that they're not making us pay more in sales tax to help operate the stadium. That would be much worse.

I'm tired of paying higher taxes on sales tax because they want us to pay for the stupid stadium. Why don't they make the colts pay a big chunk of it. Jim Irsay need to come off some of his money to cover some of it. The colts haven't done enough to earn such a big stadium at the taxpayers expense. Sorry to rant, but I'm just tired of it.

WTF!?!?!? They want to raise taxes to pay for an effing football stadium. I could give a sh*t less if they put higher taxes on alcohol and cigarettes, but seriously use this tax money to do something more important. Why don't they use that money to hurry up and finish their obnoxious amount of unfinished construction of these roads here in southern Indiana? Why don't they save it and put more money into the schools to make our schools even better than what they already are? Indiana already has one of the best economies in the united states, but I don't think that means that we should take advantage of it and throw it around to pay for football. I think there are wiser ways to use our money.

a million. it really is risky to telll people on the web the position you're from. 2. "Is" is spelled with a S, not a Z, get that by capacity of your head. 3. people will take you extra heavily in case you end making use of chatspeak. 4. Why are all of your cutting-edge questions unnecessary?
