Jesus Rising On The Third Day?

I always had this question and it's getting close to Easter so let me ask away. Jesus died on Good Friday and he rose on Easter which was Sunday so wouldn't that make it two days instead of three. Help me out here?

I'm not technically a Christian, but I can help you out with this one. There was more than one sabbath that week because it was the passover.

It is true that there were 2 Sabbaths that week, The Feast of Unleaven Bread and the weekly Sabbath.

Passover was on Wednesday (which is the preparation day for Unleaven Bread). Yahshua died at 3:00PM that day. He was our passover lamb.

Since the next day was a High Sabbath, they were not permitted to have a body on the tree. They hastily removed the body of the Messiah and burried Him just before sunset (after the sun set it would have been on the High Sabbath).

Remember that they couldn't work or touch a dead bpdy on a Sabbath. The day after was the preparation day for the weekly Sabbath so they weren't able to get to the tomb to finish the preparations of the body.

The next day was the weekly Sabbath so they couldn't do anything here either! Finally they got to go to the tomb. It is now Sunday morning and when they arrive the tomb is empty! He is risen (12 hours earlier)!

Remember that a day is counted from sunset to sunset.

To count the days we can start with Thurtsday night, then Thursday, Friday night, Friday, Sabbath night and finally Sabbath. He arose just before sunset on Sabbath. Three days and three nights!

Of the 3 accounts of the resurection, 2 state that He rose at the end of the Sabbath (as I have desscribed) and one says it happened on Sunday morning.

Is it possible that this could have been added or changed to give support to Sunday worship instead of Sabbath worship?

If it doesn't support 3 full days and 3 full nights then the doctrine is incorrect. Don't believe the lies. Read what the scriptures say about the incident and make up your own mind.

The confusion here is that there were two sabbaths that week; an annual sabbath; the first day of unleavened bread, and then the weekly sabbath. Jesus was crucified on the preparation day before the annual sabbath that fell on Thursday that day. The resurrection occurred after sundown Saturday evening. When people came to the tomb later, he was already gone.

The Jewish day begins at sundown and ends at sundown the next day. So from sundown Thursday to sundown Friday is one day, sundown Friday to sundown Saturday is one day, and sundown Saturday to sundown Sunday is one day. That's three days, inclusively.
