I have been; the weather was amazing every day and the hotel/beach was lovely. But it's not advisable to go wandering round on your own at night especially if you're female. I was only about 14 when I went and the guy at the hotel restaurant took a shine to me - very annoying!

You can go out and about during the day but be warned, the taxi drivers are mental! Wear a seatbelt! x

I was there at the end of July last year, all over the country, and the temperature was 40-46C the entire time. Make sure you are staying somewhere with air conditioning. You end up going out in the morning, then staying in during the heat of the afternoon, then go back to the beach in the late afternoon. The Tunisian families are all at the beach until midnight because a breeze comes in, it's still warm, and the water is great.

We hired a car for 2 weeks and visited Sousse, Mahdia, Monastir, El Jem, Matmata, Ksar Ghilane, Douz, Sbeitla, Dougga, Tozeur, Tunis and Sidi Bou Said

I would recommend Tunisia. Me my Wife and Son have been 3 times in 1 and a half years and love it. Great weather, nice people and very cheap beer! I recommend the Iberostar Sahara Beach as they have everything in the grounds you could possibly need so dont need to venture out.It has shops, restaurants, private beach, a zoo, 4 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool, bars, sports like tennis, archery, football. Its great!!!

It's hot and you'll probably not able to get off your compound, unless you don't mind being harassed all the time. Sorry.
