why do Cineworld charge extra for 3d films?
i ask because i was going to watch monsters vs Aliens at the Cardiff branch and it would have cost me £9 because they charge £2.20 extra. Went to see it at Vue and it only cost a fiver. Should you really be charged extra for a film because its in 3d. And if the 3d element doesn't work for you should you get a refund.
Film was great.

One it adds about $15,000,000 to the cost of the film. They have to film two movies at the same time for 3d to get the double images so you need special equipment for filming. It takes more people to be in charge of making sure the 3d effect looks good. The theaters have to buy a digital projector that can show 3d. They can't use the projectors that use film. All this adds a lot to the cost of making the film. So they charge more. It is cheaper to make a 2d film.

I still don't understand, with all the advertisements and the huge mark-up on snacks that cinemas have, why cinema tickets are going up in price and not down! They must have to pay an absolute fortune to the film companies to show the films.
It's been stated by those in the movie industry that, now DVDs are released so soon after the cinema release, the cinema release is really just a big advert for the DVD; that's where the film companies make their money... even if something 'flops' at the box office, nearly all films still end up making an overall profit from DVD sales. With all the money that goes into marketing and promotion for a cinema release, even the most successful films don't make a huge profit (by movie standards) at the box office.
The movie industry just keeps asking for more and more money for what has largely become a poorer product (Meet the Spartans... WTF?!) and then acts like they've been robbed when people don't pay to see their crap.
I don't bother with cinemas at all anymore; I'll just wait for the DVD.

They charge extra because of the 3D effects and the glasses and all that shizz. I don't think they should charge more, its still a movie whether it's in 3D or not
