There is this stuff called IVF or something like that. Its in the condom isle. Its a film that you put inside yourself and it is made of monoxinyl 9 which kills sperm. They say its pretty good and we used it after the birth of my daughter for awhile until I started the pill. I still think prescription stuff is better, but the others will do in a pinch.

    Condoms with spermicide.

Spermicide by itself (not highly recommended).

There are some herbal remedies such as Wild Yam that supposedly lower fertility, but they are not recommended because they are highly unreliable. These are generally best used in conjunction with knowing your cycle and using that to your advantage.

**In response to someone writing that Plan B (emergency contraceptive) is an option for non-prescription birth control, I just want to make sure it is clear that this is not a continual use product and it would be harmful to you to use it as such.**

    yes. its called plan b.

its available over the counter but its stored behind the counter... you have to ask for it.... needs to be taken within 72 hours of sex or it WONT work.

Only non-prescription for 18 year olds and older. under 18 needs a prescription/friend/parent to buy.....

    Condoms, spermicides, the sponge...

Condoms are important, of course, for STD prevention as well. However, these methods all have failure rates higher than hormonal BC. You should be clear on their use and effectiveness.
