Best way to burn AVI files to a DVD-R to play in a DVD player?

I want to burn big avi files to a dvd-r disk (they are approx 700MB).

I made one successfully recently, but I cant remember how I did it, because I just messed around with nero.

I have nero 7 premium, nero vision, nero recode, nero burning rom etc. I dont have hardly any experience with these programs. The last time it worked i used nero vision.

Now, when i try, the encoding takes 3-4 hours, then as soon as its done, it pops us with a box saying "burn process failed! An error log file was created that can be very helpful in diagnosing problems. Would you like to save it?"

I have no idea why it failed. The disks are 4.7GB DVD-R, and I didnt touch the computer whilst it was encoding.

I would be very grateful if you have any possible solutions, helpful advice or alternative ideas.

Thanks x

An AVI is seen a report field no longer a report format so which you would be attentive to for confident that the AVI report conforms to ffourCC standards. despite if the video factor does comply with the ffourCC standards contained in this form of DIVX or XVID, if he audio is in an unique format alongside with FLAC or OGG probability is the video won't play, in fact maximum media participant gadgets that help DIVX anticipate that MP3 or WAV are the dominating audio report formats and the participant will additionally forget approximately AC3 it is the interior of reach format for encoding audio for DVDs.
