By cheap, I assume you mean around $30- $50 per night, since that is what most Motel 6 or Days Inn are. Luckily, right now the entirety of Las Vegas hotels are having great specials, and if you stay any night but Friday or Saturday, you can snag some awesome deals. My favorite hotel, whether there is a recession or not, is Excalibur. Normally I pay promotional rates of around $50/night. It's the hotel that is a castle, it is in a great location across from MGM Grand, and they are currently having specials around $30/night. See this website http://smartervegas.com/hotels/excalibur/promotion... and you can check the other hotels here for great rates also. The dates in July for Excalibur's cheapest promotion are $29 on weeknights, and $57 on weekends. That is very low!

    good luck!

The best budget hotel that is dead center of the strip is Bills Gambling Hall and Hotel. The rooms are nice and clean and you can walk everywhere easily from this hotel. About $40 a night. Avoid the "north" strip hotels such as Stratosphere, Sahara, Stratosphere, Circus Circus and the Riviera. They are just too far of a walk and the area is pretty bad. For a girls trip these are a definite no. Also the Flamingo and Harrahs are in the center and they are on the cheaper side. The center of the strip is the best place to stay with the liveliest area. Also avoid Imperial Palace at all costs. This hotel is disgusting and everything is covered with a greasy coat. Also the elevators take over 30 minutes everytime you want to use them. Any other questions let me know.

Don't know if it's still there but there is a small motel called the America's Best Value suites. Located at the south end, just off the strip. Next door to the Hooters Hotel and Casino, just behind a little resturant, and right across the street from the MGM Grand parking structure. I paid less than $90 per night during a convention weekend.

Don't decide solely on price. Places like the Stratosphere, Circus Circus and Sahara are cheap, but they are at the north end of the Strip and not really close to anything. If you want to be close to the action without paying a lot, stay at Imperial Palace. It's smack dab in the middle of the Strip, across from Caesars Palace. It's not a dive, and I found it to be a good hotel to stay at.

you can get cheap without going scummy.

The ones on the north end are cheaper but arent as close as you may like - ie: stratosphere, circus circus.

My husband and I stayed at the Gold Coast. It is 1/3 mile off the center of the strip so thats why its cheaper. But honestly, it wasnt as big of a deal as I had thought as far as not being on the strip. Their shuttle service is fast and convienant. 5 mins and boom you are center strip. I would recommend that hotel to anyone who wants to save some $$

Sahara, Imperial Palace, Stratosphere and Circus Circus are normally the cheapest.

I suggest Sahara, Circus Circus manor, Imperial Palace, Tropicana and Riveria.

Imperial Palace is usually the cheapest on the strip. You can get cheaper downtown near Freemont.

I have to travel a lot for my business, mostly in Europe and Asia, but often in the states to cities like Las Vegas. I used to use sites like Travelocity to book my flights and lodging, but I stumbled upon the better way to find deals: go to the second level sites - those like http://hotelsmixmatch.com/ who compare the hundreds of different booking sites in one single search. You'll not only see Trivago or Expedia deals, but ALL OF THEM in one place.

I must have saved over 3,000 Euros since I started using them. I sincerely believe that using only one of the top booking sites is not necessarily the best idea.
