Transferring CD Songs to MP3, most common way?
Hi. I am a little antiquated (that means older and fatter) and I am just now advancing to using MP3's as opposed to CD players and cassette tapes. When you have hundreds of tapes and CD's and albums, you don't get to MP3's until it makes the most sense.
So I want to start transferring some songs from my CD's to MP3 so I can start excersizing again and not have the CD player skip all over the place. So the question is,
What is the best most preferred method to take songs off of a CD and make them into MP3's?
Example: Guns & Roses "Use Your Illusion I and II" I want 5 songs from I and 3 songs from II. What is the best or most common way to do that? Assume I am using XP Pro 32 bit.
Thank You.

Commonly, you would do this with the same program you play your music with. If you have an iPod, this would be iTunes; other options include Windows Media Player and Winamp. You can also do it with a special dedicated program, but this usually takes longer and has little benefit.
Being the most popular and simplest option, let's go with iTunes (if you don't have iTunes already, download it from < http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ >).
Before you do anything, there are some settings we should change in order to make iTunes copy your tracks correctly. In the iTunes "preferences" window (found by going to the Edit menu in iTunes) you should see a button in the "general" tab labeled "Import Settings..." . Clicking on this button will open a second window with some drop-down boxes. Take the first one, entitled "Import Using:" and select "MP3 Encoder". Take the second one to "Higher Quality". Also, make sure to check the box labeled "Use error correction". These settings ensure that your MP3 copies will be accurate and high-quality, true to the quality of the CD original and without any skips. Once you've changes these settings, close both of the "preferences" windows.
Now, with iTunes running, insert the music CD you want to rip tracks from (the process of converting CD tracks to .MP3 or other files is known as "ripping"). Instantly, you should see an "Audio CD" icon appear on the left side of the screen. If you click on this, it should show on the main part of the window a listing of the tracks on the cd--either labeled "Track 1", "Track 2", etc. or with the actual names of the tracks. Select the ones you want to copy by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on them, then go to the "Advanced" menu in iTunes and select "Create MP3 Version". This will convert the tracks you selected into MP3 files, which will be stored on your computer.
These tracks will all be stored in your "My Music" folder, under "iTunes" and "iTunes Music".

Go to apple.com and look for the iTunes link. Download iTunes. It should take only a few seconds depending on your internet. Once that downloads place your CDs in the tray and wait for the iTunes to convert all the songs into MP3 format. Then you will have it all in MP3. It is alot easier to organise all your music that way.
P.S. AC/DC is better than Guns 'N Roses lol

Download and save it to your PC or laptop in a folder. Then use Nero software or Windows Media Player burn(like transferring) it to your CD-R or CD-RW. Viola! You have the songs in your CD which you could play later. Make sure your CD-R is empty and you could burn more songs to it not just the two. The CD-RW could be re-written meaning it could be burnt a few more times. First time may be confusing but try a few times so best option get a CD-RW.

Windows Media Player is quite simple and does the job.
Insert the disc and windows media player should auto detect it.
Click on Ripp music. You can select which songs u want to rip or u can just rip all.
