Has anyone read the prophecies of the Hopi?

If you have ever read the legends of the Hopi and other Native American tribes, it might make one think about how we live. This is a part of a legend on the end times. Notice how some of it appears to be today's happenings.

"Life has become out of balance. When people are so out of balance, some one will hear our voice and our White Brother will answer the call and clean away the evil ones. According to prophecy, when the purification is over only a handful of people will survive in every nation overseas. Then they will come to this continent, which we call heaven. This is where the Creator first lived and that’s what he called it. He sent his own son from Oraibi to Bethlehem in order to be born there. The Hopi already knew that the morning star would rise one day and someone special would be born...

"In our prophecies there are two brothers, one dark-skinned younger brother and the light-skinned elder who we call the White Brother. Together they will decide how the purification will be accomplished.

"The two brothers were with us when we first came to this continent. When their father passed away, the elder brother went out in the direction of the sunrise and the younger brother stayed here. They had agreed the elder brother would go, but would not stay away too long. He would return when people would travel on a road built in the air. At that time we would know that the earth had been corrupted to the point that it must be purified.

"We’ve come to that point now. Everything has been corrupted. Because we are out of balance, we don’t obey the laws.... It’s too late now for gradual voluntary corrections...

"As Hopis... we are calling for the purification because it is our obligation. We’re ready, we want it to happen... We’ve already gone over the time limit that was given to us in the prophecy..." (7)

What are your thoughts?

Update:

Bridgette, Yes, it may sound like it but this is much older than the white man on this continent.

Update 2:

S Pheonix, I am patient.

Update 3:

Dustn, Read the "9 Feathers" prophecy and tell me how close.

Update 4:

Yep, NoLube, that was how Uncle Thomas thought!

Update 5:

NoLube, Read the "9 Feathers" prophecy and it will enlighten you to some extent. If you can't find them let me know and I'll try to send them to you.

They are very interesting. and when viewed one can see the truths therein.

Update 6:

Sorry, I made a mistake in the name of the prophecies. It is the 9 signs of the 'White Feather" prophecies.

Update 7:

Porque, This has been known since Cortez came to Mexico. The Aztecs thought he was the returning "God". Too bad they were wrong, because he was just the opposite.

Update 8:

RKO, Are you thinking what it appears? White brother and dark brother?

Update 9:

Teresa, I agree to some extent with your diagnosis but, as all religions have a base in the same root, this still does not explain the full legend and seeming coincidences to the history as it has unfolded. These legends though handed down orally, were told as a sacred ritual and had to be told just right. They also may be older than the Christian Bible.

Update 10:

AK, these legends are older than the Bible you read. And as I stated before all religions are based in the same root and are explained in the terms of the various indigenous people as they understand them. This is not about religion but about the prophecies and what they mean today. Many have already happened.

Update 11:

Yuha, there are so few in many nations who follow the old ways. I have a godson in the Lakota. I named him Screaming Eagle at sunrise after he was born and offered tsula(tobacco) to the four spirits.

Update 12:

Lori, I ran across these while researching the Christian religion, as they parallel the prophecies of Daniel.

Update 13:

Yes, Blue. many of the tribes of the Americas have similar stories. The Aztec did also

Update 14:

Jim S, Yes the two tribes and their beliefs are very similar, as is the Hopi. They, like Christianity and Islam stem from the Jewish, have their founding in the same concept.

Update 15:

Kanien, I made no claim that this was factual, only asked if any had read it. I am in the process of trying to learn about a part of my ancestry that has been hidden from me and this looked interesting and I was searching for conformation of this as to any truth in it.

I realize all the tribes are interwoven but some traditions are different in various ways.

Update 16:

Mama, thanks for the link, but as I said I never said this was accurate, only interesting. Some of my ancestry are among the Cherokee in Arkansas from before the Louisiana purchase and for a while I searched the Northern Cherokee for information before the government shut them down.Their Missouri reservation was just a few miles from my house, so it was and easy way to talk in person to them. I am looking for information as for years it was illegal to own land in Mo. and Ar if you were Native American and my ancestors could pass and did, but hid the history too well for it to be found. This is why the search.

Update 17:

Kanien and Mama, I appreciate your input into this. I also had replies from the Lakota, and as I said I am looking for information and was hoping to get an answer from a Native American from that area, Hopi, Pueblo or Navajo. K. I think it was one of your links, was a reference of the "iron snake", can you tell me how old this prophecy is? usually in handed down stories are added to and taken away from, and know that some stories are supposed to be told in a certain way as to prevent to much bastardization and adultry . Some of the Cherokee rites are secret and can't be told or viewed by any but full blood Cherokee.

i'm mohawk, one of the 6 nations of the haudenasaunee and we are cousins to the hopi. what you have put there is a bastardization of their prophecy. your website manataka is one of the biggest bunch of frauds out there

    http://www.newagefraud.org/smf/index.php?topic=324...

"The Manataka American Indian Council is the largest fraudulent Indian exploitative group in Arkansas, mixing New Age and Pagan concepts with American Indian concepts. Not only do they make misleading claims about themselves, they exploit legitimate Indian culture and attempt to misappropriate sacred religious ceremonies. "

do not believe ANYTHING they say on that site. if there is any truth there ti is because they lifted it from another legitiimate site. native people have been fighting this group for a long time but they have money and are very good with threatening those who dare question them. stay away from them.

if you want to know our REAL prophecies you can hear some here:

    http://www.wisdomoftheelders.org/program03.html

Source(s): http://www.wisdomoftheelders.org/ ETA: the problem is i believe you did think it was legit. it isn't. i'm sure you didn't know since this group years ago even duped some actual native elders into thinking they were sonething they aren't...until of course they went there. they are not just fraudulent, they are dangerous. and their very actions and deceit threatens the existence of legitimate native nations. that is not an exaggeration. if you care to know more read the links i posted. searching out your ancestry is fine. just make sure you are getting truth or you will end up accomplishing the exact opposite of what you intend. anyone associated or quoting this group as legitimate for anything is shunned in native groups. ETA: i am not sure exactly which nation's teachings you are referencing with the iron snake. we also have snakes as a common theme in our prophecies. they are not seen as evil as some beliefs have them, but rather as change that can come upon you suddenly and without warning. it is always wise to pay attention to the snake.

Hmmmm. a dark-skinned younger brother and a white-skinned elder who we will call the White Brother. That's interesting.

i believe we are nearing the end of civilization as we know it.

It may be a few generations away, but mankind will undergo some kind of spiritual renewal, or 'purification' that will return us to the moral kind of humanity we once knew.

Our obsession with material things has poisoned the world, blackened our skies and degraded the very air and water we rely on for human life. We have not taken Mother Nature's [or God's, or the intelligent designer's or the big bang theory's] dictates seriously of protecting our good Earth, having dominion over the animal population and conserving those things which are most precious to our very survival (such as plants and crops).

A purification is, indeed, necessary. But will it come too late?

In June, 2006, I wrote a blog at www.blogger.com called "BUSHWACKER!". It was a fictional account of a hi-tech terrorist group that obliterated most of America's political leaders, wealthy elitists, overpaid celebrities and social cretins. An earthquake destroyed L.A.; hurricanes decimated Washington, DC and New York City....and most of man's monolithic monuments to himself were destroyed.

I believe there are forces 'out there' that will eventually save mankind from his own self-destruction. Whether it's a 'purification' or a tragic and horrendous 'natural' series of events, man's avarice, arrogance, self-indulgence, ignorance and hubris wll finally be washed away from this planet and we will start all over once again.

Thank you for sharing these Hopi prophecies. -RKO- 04/05/09

Kanien speaks the truth. I am from Arkansas and live near this exploitive group of people, and those I know among their 'elders" are as Indian as I am. I am NOT a Native American.

That group is NOT authentic and they have also made up stories about the local "history" of Arkansas tribes that have angered many of the few remaining real descendents of the natives of this area.

I would not recommend that site for anyone wishing to learn about your real ancestral past if you have native ancestry.

    Here are others to avoid.

    http://home.aihsc.info/ARMO_fraud.htm

I am a member of a people who often have others exploit and misrepresent us for various agendas of identity theft as well, so I certainly understand the distaste that the remaining authentic First Nations Peoples have for those who would bastardize their ways for profit.

edit: You ask for the readers thoughts to what you present as prophecies of the Hopi. You ask if anyone has read the prophecies of the Hopi. I can't trust that what is presented on the link is authentic Hopi belief because I know for a fact that the reference you give misrepresents much about many peoples. The SOURCE for what you ask us what we think is a group that is a fraudulent group and so there are two of us who know this who have given you our views, that if you are wishing to understand Hopi beliefs, look to a legitimate reference please. You say you make no claims of its authenticity..then, there shouldn't be any problem with looking to authentic information on the Hopi to discover what their prophecies really are, and I believe Kanien's help/ information would be a much more reliable resource for you. I've seen her answer on issues of Native American Indians and I know that her references ARE legitimate.

If I did not have respect for the right of the First Nation's Peoples to their own history, customs, religions and heritage, I would not have commented here at all.

I raise my child as my parents raised me, to be respectful and tolerant of the right of individuals and groups to have their own unadulterated culture, customs and beliefs. My tolerance extends to the point where the expression of those beliefs violate certain standards of behaviors: If they attempt to violate another’s civil rights, seek to incite harm to anyone, willfully deceive another or misrepresent the beliefs of others then my tolerance ceases.

Therefore I am compelled to share the information that I have about Manataka

Your question asked what we think. That's what I think.

shalom and good luck on your exploration of your lost heritage

edit: I am sorry I do not have a resource for you and I am not a member of any First Nations people.

I was simply compelled to speak up because I knew of the deceptive nature of the group you referenced. The link I gave has references that may help. In addition, Kanien's resources would be those I would trust.

    Good luck with your search.

Source(s): http://aihsc.info/index.htm < learn about Manataka it is long but worth it..if you are going to use something as a reference make sure it is a legitimate one pleasee

Thomas Jefferson was a revolutionary thinker in more ways than one. I doubt he would approve of the current Tsusquanegidv in charge. Here's one of the many things he wrote about how He wanted to deal with the Native Americans of his time. We all know how things turned out but this was his thinking at the time...

"I am of opinion that government should firmly maintain this ground: that the Indians have a right to the occupation of their lands, independent of the States within whose chartered lines they happen to be; that until they cede them by treaty or other transaction equivalent to a treaty, no act of a State can give a right to such lands; that neither under the present constitution, nor the ancient confederation, had any State or person a right to treat with the Indians, without the consent of the General Government;... that the government is determined to exert all its energy for the patronage and protection of the rights of the Indians, and the preservation of peace between the United States and them; and that if any settlements are made on lands not ceded by them, without the previous consent of the United States, the government will think itself bound, not only to declare to the Indians that such settlements are without the authority or protection of the United States, but to remove them also by the public force." --Thomas Jefferson to Henry Knox, 1791. ME 8:226

edit: Hey I know I didn't answer your question directly but to be honest it's over my head. I'm a conservative in the true sense of the word. I'll bet you any money that I've got more respect for this earthly gift we've been given than some 'tree hugger' who lives in some apartment in a concrete jungle like LA or NYC.

  • Yes, I've read them but I have to admit that I have not researched them to any great degree or studied them in depth as I have other religious texts.

However, based on what I have read I believe they originated from prophecies that were revealed in the book of Daniel but passed on through oral tradition generations before the people who made up the Hopi tribe either left the Hebrew people or were forced out due to transgressions against God. Of course they could have been gentiles that lived a slaves among the Hebrew people, but there's no real way to know for certain. Whomever they were, after hearing these oral prophecies, I believe they migrated here across the Bering Straights land bridge when it still existed. Because of their origins there is "some truth" to what these prophecies say, particularly regarding the future time of "purification and judgment".

But, those prophecies although already altered when brought here have undergone even more alterations since then. They will therefore serve to turn people away from the one true God and toward the Antichrist.

I say this for a couple of reasons. First of all, the similarity between these prophecies regarding the birth of Jesus Christ and the Old Testament prophecies regarding his birth give evidence of where they originated.

Second, the "brothers" bear a stark resemblance to the Beast and the False Prophet in the Book of Revelation who are obviously the Antichrist and the Muslim Mahdi. The Old Testament prophecies regarding these two predate even the Hopi living on this continent. The primary difference in how they are viewed though is the same as the difference between what Christians and Muslims see in their prophecies. Like the Muslims, the Hopi will see the Antichrist and the Muslim Mahdi as the Messiah and his helper and will unfortunately fall before him and take his mark before Jesus actually returns. Sadly, the process of verification for this "False Messiah" is in keeping with the traditions of the Hebrew people, so when he takes the throne and declares himself God, the world will look to them to verify his deity and it will be for naught. And the only people who will know his true identity will be those who are persecuted sought out by him and his minions to be killed.

    = = =

Edit: It's not surprising that the original prophecies they brought with them were older than the Christian Bible and I wouldn't argue the point since all prophecy from the Old Testament is older than the Christian Bible. *chuckle*

I'm just saying that I don't believe everything they're presenting was included in the original prophecies exactly as they are presenting it now, and because of those alterations I believe many will be led astray.

    Yes.

The "Purification" will come when guilt is beyond redemption, and before it is too late.

Have two Native American Heritage families as friends for over 35 years.

Navajo, Cherokee. We think (close to) alike.

I not scared.I've accepted Christ. To those that haven't they need to read the "Left Behind" books.Or better yet The Bible.Funny how no matter how they try to disprove the Bible it has a way of being Proved.

The Birthing pains are getting closer....

  • My Tribe also has a brother legend. Interestingly, so do the Mayan's who play a foot ball game of life and death.
