How can I avoid grass clumps being left on the lawn after I mow?

I'm seeing lots of grass clippings left in my yard after I mow. I know some of the problem is that the grass is growing really fast and is very long when it is cut. Also, I have mowed when the grass isn't completely dry. Short of buying a new mower, is there any other way to avoid these leftover clumps in the lawn?

Use a mulching blade, that will cut your clippings finer. And its better to keep up with it and not let the grass get too high. you will have better results.

Barb B has an excellent answer. Before you buy a new mower; Make sure that you are mowing with an empty bag. Also try turning the mower on it's side and clean out the grass sticking to the bottom of the mower deck, a hose does a pretty good job at this. While you're there, check the blade for sharpness. In most cases it's cheaper to replace the blade rather than having it sharpened.

Well you can not cut your grass so short, or double mow over the area,s. Also it,s better to cut grass when it,s dry.
