question about lip piercings?

When you first get a lip piercing do you have to get a ring until it heals or can you just get a stud when you first get it pierced? Thanks in advanced. :D

Well what type of jewelry you get first depends on your piercer. For instance, the piercer I prefer won't do nose piercings with regular studs; you have to go through a CBR first for a month or so. His reasoning is that the CBR lets the hole heal better, because you can move the metal through and get all of it clean, as opposed to just trying to get soap/disinfectant/whatever you're using into the hole while the jewelry's inside it.

So, to answer your question concisely, it IS possible to get a stud first, but you should ask whoever's piercing you which jewelry they prefer and why.

It could be the same reason that I gave above. And really, it's worth having a CBR for a while if you're going to have a shorter healing time and less risk of initial infection over all.
