why growing hemp illegal? would it help the environment and/or the economy if it is legalized? How does......?
Obama feel about this issue?
we know how he feels about pot however the question he should have been answering was if " growing Hemp is going to help the economy and/or the environment". or did he change the subject by simply substituting the word Hemp with Pot?! they are related however not the same; to get high using hemp, you'd have to smoke a joint the size of a telephone pole! peace
with all do respect people responsible for the first two answers are a good reason not to smoke pot. most likely if they would have rather smoked hemp, they would have read the link provided and therefor understand that the two are different and that you can legalize growing hemp while growing pot remains illegal. USA is the only industrial country where growing hemp is illegal!!
i noticed many thumbs down however no one has given me a reason and/or a rationality for prohibiting hemp in USA! easy to push the thumbs down button, but tell me why?

It depends on the state, at least a dozen have a hemp industry.
BTW, hemp only contains less then 1% THC which is extremely small amounts and probably wouldn't get you high unless you smoke like 5-10 plants in less then an hour or something. It would be pretty ridiculous.

Legalize it! George Washington and Tom Jefferson grew it, and smoked it. If it is good adequate for our forefathers, it is good adequate for me. it is a flipped answer i understand. i'm only bored to death in restating each and all of the professionals. no person listens besides. -it is significant to word: Marijuana is unquestionably "hemp". lines of hemp grown for utilitarian makes use of will consistently unfold into the wild and finally, generations down the line, develop offspring with intense THC tiers. i do no longer think of it truly is an sensible argument against using hemp because of the fact I additionally desire complete legalization of marijuana for inner maximum use. it is a strategies much less unfavorable than alcohol or nicotine and the "gateway drug" delusion has been debunked one thousand circumstances over.

Yes, there's no problem with growing hemp. Like so many things its been a valuable commodity thrown out with the bath water. (I believe soaking in a warm tub with some hemp is very healthy.)
If Mary Jane were at least decriminalized we'd be going in the right direction. Legalizing its use would also take mucho grande mula out of the hands of the illegal drug trade.
Except in certain cases where pot is a helpful medication pot is not very good for you but likely not as bat as tobacco in its various forms. Their are some indications that smoking pot can lead to the development of some cancers. But, then, so can your chlorinated or oxygenated tap water.
Personally I don't like pot. In the hippie days I smoked a bit but gave it up very quickly. It really bothered me. We used to have beer parties with signs on the door No Pot Smokers Allowed! Funny times.

I believe Hemp Farming should be substituted for the tobacco farming that is dwindling right now. Those farmers have been left with no real market, with tobacco products being highly taxed, its use discouraged and even forbidden in many instances.
It is ridiculous that we import hemp from Canada for use in certain products, when we are very capable of growing it ourselves. It is the mistaken notion that hemp is the same as marijuana that makes it illegal to grow it in this country. Instead, we import it, which is about as silly as it gets!

Macman- I wear quite a bit of hemp clothing. It is very comfortable and has great properties, like wash and wear, looks like linen, very durable. It makes all sorts of great products and for the life of me I cannot figure out why it is illegal. Probably ignorance. Sigh.
