Who is more like Jesus?
I am an atheist who is overly empathetic, forgiving and understanding. Doesn't that make me more like Jesus than a priest that despises homosexuality, or rapes children. How can someone who is godless find so many religious people morally bankrupt?
Jesus was against homosexuals? Thank you for that, now I hate every aspect of religion. I thought Jesus was the diamond in the rough.
This is not a knowledge quest. I'm trying to understand why I find soooooooo many religious people hippocrates.
People who tell me to go to church hate gays. One guy i knew criticised me then later told me a story about how he robbed and beat up a crack head. I knew a priest who beat his kids regularly and turned one into a criminal.

Jesus despised homosexuality, but loved homosexuals. So that's one plus for the priest, but the atheist still wins because raping children is pretty bad.
EDIT: I didn't say he was against homosexuals, he loves homosexuals. He's against homosexuALITY

For one thing, a priest that does those things is not really following Jesus. Many people who are religious don't really know Jesus. Jesus doesn't ask us to walk like him he asks us to walk with him. There are a lot of good people who don't know Jesus, but everyone has sinned in some way. No one is enough like Jesus to come to God by their own merit. Please look to the Bible for answers about Jesus not to a priest. I read a good book you might enjoy called The Jesus I Never Knew by Phillip Yancey.

what you are hinting at is the notion of bieng "christian" versus bieng "christ-like".
it is widely acknowledged that the two are vastly different things.
a christian can be "christ-like" a non christian can also be "christ like".
it is widely accepted even by non christians that jesus was a man who preached peace and became a symbol for peace since overall (despite the crimes that he committed that ultimately got him killed- the riots) his message was a peacefull reform of the jewish religion.
EDIT:
dude- i would like to see some citation FROM JESUS' OWN WRITINGS that he was against homosexuals. all we really know about him is that he was a preacher who went around preaching reform in the jewish religion who was killed for violating roman law.
since the romans did not send a legion to capture him or there is no record of a battle (as there was with other jewish leaders who openly fought the romans) we must presume that jesus was not advocating military conflict. and following the overall tones of the gospels (incredibly unreliable for details and facts when they can't even agree on major events about the mythology of jesus) one can logically presume he was preaching a method of peace.
"hating homosexuals" hardly fits in with that forgiving and peace minded preacher.

We can all be pretty "Nice" people. Yet not a single one of us is perfect.
The standard of God is PERFECT. Not one human can claim that.
That is why we all need Christ. God isn't up there, keeping account of your good and bad in a book- then weighing them up.
It is - do you have Christ or not?
IF you have Christ- truly and for real- do you think you would be a person full of hatred, cruelty, sex perversions, selfishness, etc?
What is in a person is proven by what they do.
Christ produces goodness- not the other way around.
God did it this way so not one of us can boast.

yes I would say you are more like Jesus than the priest but that will not save you from hell only the blood of Jesus can.

If you don't believe in God, your betterness or worseness than anyone else doesn't matter, if you prefer to deny him.
Plus, it is Jesus that saves. The blood of Jesus is holy, only if Jesus is holy.

Obviously, the non-religious are more rational and therefore more moral than the delusional people.

Well, since neither of you are dead, I'm going to say neither is more like Jesus.
