Because the KKK is no longer viable as a group. They had several huge monetary judgments by the courts against them, which literally bankrupted them, and since then they have disbanded and have no power.

There are certain "white power" groups that exist, but they don't call themselves KKK. They go for stuff like Aryan Nation, NeoNazis, etc. They are more into Hitler and the Nazis than anything else. These are younger white males and their significant others. They still are not significant in terms of sheer numbers though; these groups are small.

Osama bin Ladin couldn't march down the street in this country because he is a wanted man, in connection with the 9-11 events.

Maybe slinging that term, "terrorist" around too freely could become dangerous. If we stick that label on the KKK, where will it end? Sure, the KKK IS a terrorist group but getting the feds involved in something on that level can lead to a lot of oppression.
