Peugeot 206 creaking?

I recently bought a 206 1.4I on an 03 plate 40,000 Miles. I sorted out clunking due to the spare wheel carrier, then the front O/S droplink, also an alarming power loss after a cold start due to a clogged air filter. Also a steering chug near full lock due to low fluid level.

Now when accelerating/decelerating using the engine I get a rusty springy creaking noise. There is no noise when braking but it is louder the harder I accelerate or engine brake. I initially suspected clutch pedal springs, but now I think more like a bad engine mount causing excess engine movement.

Anyone any ideas?

Now its generally running OK apart from this, braking straight and 9.4 + miles per litre.

Update:

Its only on acceleration, deceleration using the engine, sitting on the wings makes no noise, breaking is quiet, cornering is quiet, jumping in and out of the boot is quiet as well.

it might be the engine mounting. If I were you I would get the car serviced and get them to look at it. If the air filter is that badly blocked its either been driven in very dusty conditions or has not been serviced for a long time, maybe not since it was new. I think the car will benefit from a service to keep it all running well

I`m not sure if this is any good. As you didnt have any answers. If it`s when you get in or out of the car. It could be the ball joint`s. Lower I would suspect. It might need the joints and the wishbone ( Joint ) checked out.Has it a torsion bar. Is that ok. Maybe a bush worn. As I said dont know the car but it could be an answer to most.

This is definetly an engine mount. My mum had the same issue on her 206. She left it until it was making a horrible judder every time she accelerated! I think it only cost about £50 at a garage to fix. :-)

    Sounds like a engine mount.

Gently jack up the engine while checking the mounts.

It sounds like the bottom engine mount is worn or loose check for ware on the mount if it is ok try tightening the bolts i have seen them come loose before.
