Do you being a wife or does your wife ask this all the time?
I have been married for a while now and my wife is a stay at home mother. When I am home and I go off some where within the house she asks all the time where are you going. Honestly i don't mind answering the question but come on when it comes to me heading towards the restroom and you ask it's kind of self explanatory. Then when my wife is given the answer that i am using the restroom she wants to know what I plan on doing in there and about how long will i be. I understand the whole issue I am at work all day long and she wants to spend time with me but seriously do you need to know where your man is 100% of the time or what he plans on doing?

That's too funny, I'm a stay at home Mom and until now, didn't realize that I was actually doing this too! oops!
I think most of the time, I do it mostly because I'm wondering where he will be incase I need him for something (like a question, etc).
Other times I ask because I don't get to see him much & I'm hoping it won't be too long.
I don't recall ever asking him in detail though (especially what he'll be doing & how long) unless its a detailed "job" he's doing and I want to know when to expect him home or back into concentration again. ;)
I think as a Mom, you get so used to checking up on everyone, that it's hard to hang all of that up sometimes. It's also SO VERY DIFFICULT not having much adult interaction during the day and never really feeling like you have time off either (except for when you sleep, if you're lucky).
So I think the "where are you going/headed" thing is okay, but the part where you have to answer about the bathroom stuff is a little excessive. You could just nicely explain to her that you understand why she asks you, and that you understand, but that when she gets that picky/detailed about it that it's a little wierd for you. If she doesn't realize what she's really doing, she might be embarassed & apologize to you & try to work on it. Otherwise she might not think there's anything wrong with it either, which you could bring to her attention as well.
At least you're understanding & that's great! :) Good luck!

Not sure if it's sooo much about what you are doing.. Poor lady is trapped at home all day, whether she's spending that time w/ your wonderful children or not... Think if you stayed at home with your kids all day everyday, and only had tv (like Oprah, or Judge Judy) as your companions... TAKE HER OUT SOMEWHERE NICE... Give her a day or two a week for a hobby to get out of the house a little bit... Women whether they are mom's or not, need some time to themselves too!

It has become habit for her to ask.
It would irritate the heck out of me...my husband also.
You need to calmly tell her that this annoys you and that it is pointless. Let her know you feel like she is treating you like a three year old who needs constant monitoring.
Spend more time cuddling with her when you are home. Give her the attention she needs to let her know you love and value her.
It could be she is used to saying this to the kid(s) all the time and doesn't realize what she is doing with you.

That's pretty bad when you have to "explain yourself" & in detail no less just to go to the bathroom?! Ask her if she wants to put a collar on you next! I never heard of anything like this in my life. Yes, she is totally going overboard w/the questions of you & in your own home no less. She definitely has problems of some kind, have no clue what tho as this is very unusual to say the least. I'd tell her to please leave me alone as long as you're rite there in your own home for crying out loud. That's going quite a bit overboard. I'd put an end to this somehow or you're going to end up going nutso!!! Good luck to you...:)

Yeah i do that too...I thought i was the only one...lol....
You're nice about it though...just try putting yourself in her position..She never sees you because you are always at work...she feels like she's going to lose you..
She just wants to make sure, you're not going some where in the house to get away from her.

props for being calm and cool about it! but it is a bit much expecialy when she asks where your going around the house. maybe have a 1 on 1 with her in a calm voice

Its because she is bored out of her mind.
In an everyday habit of 'checking' on things
and she is just trying to make conversation.
Its horrible to be stuck at home all day. You can go alittle nutty.
She isn't doing it to be mean. I do it to my husband. Its just more.."making noise" than anything.
We get lonely and tired of talking to ourselves all day so a simple question makes us feel a bit more normal.

Unless you are given to strange and unnatural goings on in your bathroom, I don't think she needs to ask that. Maybe she needs a hobby or a job or something.

She is just one of those who needs some conversation in her life, some adult stimulation as it is to make her life more fulfilled. It can be annoying but she is still a wonderful person, right?
