Dasani Strawberry Kiwi Essence?

Dasani has these (relatively) new unsweetened lightly flavored waters... i've been drinking them lately and really enjoy the taste. It may just be my imagination, though, but i seem to not feel well later on, on days when i drink the water.

The ingredients are filtered water, natural flavors and citric acid.

None of that can make you sick, huh?

Anyone have any experiences with this beverage?

Two things you may have overlooked here... first, here are the entire list of ingredients for this product:

    Product Details:

Refresh + revive. With Vitamin B2 + Vitamin B6 + Vitamin B12 + Chromium. Zero calories per serving. With other natural flavors, including guarana + ginseng. Let Dasani Plus help revive you with great taste and refreshment. Each eight fluid ounce serving also has 10% more of the RDI of Vitamins B3, B6 and B12, and Chromium than unfortified water beverages. With great taste, refreshment and nutrients, it all adds up to the mouth-watering experience you expect from Dasani. Non carbonated. Very low sodium. Amount Per Serving (8 fl oz, 240 ml): Dasani Plus Refresh + Revive: Vitamin B3 [10% RDI], Vitamin B6 [10% RDI], Vitamin B12 [10% RDI], Chromium [10% RDI]. Unfortified Water Beverages: Vitamin B3 [0% RDI], Vitamin B6 [0% RDI], Vitamin B12 [0% RDI], Chromium [0% RDI].

    Ingredients:

Water, Natural Flavors: Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Potassium Benzoate and EDTA (to Protect Taste), Phosphoric Acid, Ginseng Extract, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Red 40, Guarana Extract, Chromium Picolinate, Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12).

Now... the two ingredients you may have missed. One is Sucralose which is a type of sweetner / sugar substitute.... as you know, artificial sweetners make a lot of people not feel well on occaision --- different ones of these have different effects on people, it may just make you feel yucky. And true, you've probably had artificial sweetner before, but you probably don't drink as much diet drink as you do water. So, you're drinking more of something that you think is good for you, but it's not.

Along those lines, this water has a lot of vitamins in it, but it also has Chromium in it, which just like vitamins can be toxic in excess.

According to Wikipedia, Trivalent chromium (Cr(III) or Cr3+) is required in trace amounts for sugar and lipid metabolism in humans and its deficiency may cause a disease called chromium deficiency.[35] In contrast, hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI) or Cr6+) is very toxic and mutagenic when inhaled. Cr(VI) has not been established as a carcinogen when in solution, though it may cause allergic contact dermatitis (ACD).[36]

The use of chromium containing dietary supplements is controversial due to the complex effects of the used supplements.[37] The popular dietary supplement chromium picolinate complex generates chromosome damage in hamster cells.[38] In the United States the dietary guidelines for daily chromium uptake were lowered from 50-200 µg for an adult to 35 µg (adult male) and to 25 µg (adult female).[39]

And don't forget, hexavalent chromium is what made Erin Brockovich so famous.

Just be careful and don't drink too much of the stuff!

And worst case scenario, put some real strawberries and kiwi into a bottle of regular water, the way nature intended! :)

It could be you just have a reaction from the flavorings they use. I would suggest finding another water brand with the same flavor like a propel or sobe vitamin water and see if you have the same reaction. No I don't think you will get sick but I know I can't drink anything kiwi flavored but can eat the fruit all day long
