Tj Maxx shouldn't be too difficult to interview with. When interviewing for retail, dress professionally (one step better than the people working there for the position you are implying for) and smile...ALOT! SMILE SMILE SMILE!!! That's what retailers are looking for! Friendliness! In this economy, customer service is everything to them. They need to keep customers and the way they are doing that (besides with fantastic sales) is by their employees. They don't care if you are a dumb blonde or a super smart less fortunate looking girl. They care that you are the most friendliest person who applied!

Study a bit about the company (Google News), convey enthusiasm, talk about how you can benefit the company (take some time tonight to do this), and get a business card (so you can send a Thank you email later the same day).

Most importantly, pop a breath mint before you go into the interview. No offense, but the point is to show the little things that other candidates don't think about.

The more of the little things, the better and more lasting impression you will make.

    Good Luck,

TJ Max won't require any sales experience. They are going to be looking for someone who is friendly and confident. So smile & dress nice. Eye contact & body language say a lot also! Good luck.

Yeah, I like what someone else said. Be honest and friendly.

    Don't be nervous.

Make sure your Resume is all filled out properly.

(but then maybe you already did this part)

Have some letters of recommendation from as many people as you can get one from.

Do a Google Search on Jon Interviews to get some other ideas.

  • Be polite, mature and confident, show enthusiam for the job and willingness to learn the necessary skills to be a successful shop assistant. Dress appropriately. Be honest about your lack of experience but explain to the interviewer that you are very interested in sales and are really keen to become a new, hard-working employee for TK Maxx.

That should just about do it. GOOD LUCK!!

Make sure you let them know how your best qualities fit into this postion such as:

    __ you like helping people

__ you like tj maxx and wish to work there because it feels comfortable

__ you know you can sell as you have brought many friends there

    showing them their products

__ know the company and that tj maxx is part of a larger concern consisting of Marshals, and A.J. Wright

NEVER address your negatives. They can see you have no sales experience, so don't address it. Try making your lifeguarding work as 'sales' experience... you have experience helping people, you have experience working in stressful situations, etc.

To work in sales, you need to be happy, friendly, and outgoing. Show these charaterstics and you'll be fine!

I suggest you put on your most flexible personality. Outgoing, friendly and a sense of wanting to be helpful will go along way. Able to work anytime on anyday is a plus too. Don't be rigid, cold or stowic.
