As a strait man, what can I do to get gay marriage legalized?
I think it's very important that gays have the right to marry, and I am sick of all the right-wing BS opposing it. So, how can I help?
oops, i guess i mean straight, not strait.

1) Declare yourself as an ally. Wearing a shirt that says you're a GLBT ally, that you support gay marriage, putting up a bumper sticker or a sign in your yard, is all a great way to increase visibility and make people realize that there are straight people in favor of gay marriage as well.
2) Attend rallies and marches. The more man power, the better. Any type of organization is good.
3) Write to your local politicians stating your support.
4) Go vote, if your state gives you the chance to do so on the issue.
5) Anything else you can do to further the discussion and bring more visibility is good- whether that's writing something on your blog, making a Youtube video, speaking up in a conversation with friends who say something disparaging about gays or gay marriage, etc., etc..
Thanks for your support!

I'm so glad you asked!
Basically, you can do what we gay people do. Educate yourself as much as possible on all the issues that effect gay people. This goes beyond just marriage. Hate crime laws, Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell, anti-discrimination laws, and a whole bunch of other things. Ask gay people you meet questions (respectfully, and some might refuse to answer).
Then, once you're educated on it, educate others. When someone is saying something against gay marriage, speak up. Correct erroneous "facts" that these people like to bring up, and remind them that gay people getting married will not effect anyone but the gay people. Remain polite, but firm in your stance.
Attend protests, rallies, and pride celebrations an an ally. You don't have to be gay to participate, and we actually love seeing our straight supporters there.
And, as always, VOTE!

I'm with you. I write my legislative representatives whenever a bill comes up regarding the matter. I sign petitions to get Gay marriage on the ballot in my state. I donate time and money to pro-Gay local and state candidates for office, and I spend some of my free time advocating and educating others in this very conservative part of my state.

Contact your state legislators urging them to push forward the rights of gay people.

You could right letters to your state representatives discussing your concerns, and stance on the matter of gay marriage. I appreciate your effort :]

The same thing that I (another straight guy) do. Write and call your legislators and vote when issues hit the ballot box.
You can also educate others.
Good luck
