To give up your way of life to help others..
Ex: Iam 62 and for the last 7 years I have taken 3 children for a niece that went to prison.
She was in there first time year and half, got out ...went back for
violation of parole...spent another year and half..got out....right back into the bars and dope......went into half way house for 10 months, got out, right back on streets, looking for the needle....back into halfway house.....got out and now has one of her kids and filed papers for one of the others and I still have one who is going on five......the problem with all this is I fell in love with the kids and it breaks my heart every time one leaves....but I know if she keeps her life straight, working and keeping a place for the kids, she will be ok...and I can go back to having a life of my own....I haven't regretted one minute of being a MOM to her kids, they were in need of a mom, and I had already raised all my sons....the dads involved, that is just it they were not involved, one went to prison also and the other 2 are no accounts !!
That is my story of sacrifice....

I don't think I have done anything that resulted in an actual sacrifice. You could say that I sacrificed my freedom when I got married, or I sacrificed a good paying job to stay with the kids, or I sacrifice my time when I volunteer at the nursing home but the real truth is I have received more from those actions than anything I ever "gave up".

A sacrifice is something of great value to you that is given to or for someone else. The cost is dear. No reward is expected. You do it out of love.
I've sacrificed many an hour of sleep due to having children, a husband who got called out to work at all hours and the nights I kept the grandchildren. Nothing much when I compare it to the sacrifice of others.

I don't believe I have ever really sacrifice anything I have given willing and just tried to do what I though was right, several others have sacrificed a lot for me I think and for that I'm very thankful.

Sacrifice to me means a forfeiture, or giving up of something highly valued to someone you consider to have a greater claim.
I was a single mother raising her kids, so yes, there was definite sacrifices on my part, for my children's sake. . . When you are doing something out of love for someone, it is never a duty, and you never see it as a sacrifice . . it is always a gift from the heart !

For me there is a difference between being frugal and watchful and sacrificing....When I sacrifice I am giving up something that is PARAMOUNT to my joy and emotional well being and preference.
I rarely have to do that but have done so temporarily and must say that I came out on the other end a better person

I go with sacrifice meaning giving up something of value for something of no value, so I see giving up, say an hour of time to service for others, not as a sacrifice, but as a setting of priorities.

sacrifice means giving up all that u have or possess for the one thing u believe to be true and take pride in it means that ur willing to give all ur money jewelry and everything that's worth a lot of value for something even more precious that it cant be bought at any store or mall

I sacrificed by staying home and taking care of my family. When my son was old enough that I could go to work, My parent and husband's parents needed me So I stayed home and took care od them. But I would do it all over, They didn't consider it a sacrifice to take care od us when we were young.

i couldn't have put it better Rick. sacrifice is placing the welfare of others above your own even if it means a loss in financial gain or whatever. read the BOOK OF JOHN chapter 13. and yes i sacrifice daily.
