Help me select a book for my book report for sociology?

Question

Okay so we have a book report due in 2 weeks and i don't knwo what good book to do. The book has to have something to do with sociology-The systeamtic study of human interactions....
  

She gave a list of books to do and i missed that day, we have a full class so no more than three ppl can do a book...So i ran out of luck and i have to choose my own book.

Example of books she gave us: "A long way gone" 
                                              " Please stop laughing at me"
                                              " Left to tell: Discovering God Amidst   the Rawandan Holocaust. " Night" "A child called it"


So please someone help me, if u know a really good/interesting book that relates to those lines, please share....i can't think of anything.

I can't remember the name of the novel i had to read for my sociology class. It was about illegal immigrants in CA. The protagonist was really annoying and I quite reading before I finished the book.

edit: do NOT read Boy in the Striped Pajamas. It's a novel written by a guy who knows nothing of what he's writing about. If he can't even get the simple facts of german culture figured out, ther's no way he can get anything right about the holocaust.

A good, and relatively short book that deals with how people communicate is "The Only Alien on the Planet" by Kristen D. Randle.  It deals with a character who hasn't spoken since he was a young boy and the ramifications when someone finally notices him.
