Is it ok to give my daughter eggs?

Ok so I know the rules have all changed since my son was little and I'm just not sure about this one.

My daughter is 6 months old and eats baby food and table food, I know that "baby led weaning" style says you can just let baby eat what you are eating, and nutritionists are now saying baby's can have meat at 6 months instead of 8 months like they used to say, but I can't seem to find any info on eggs.

We don't have any egg allergies in our families so is it ok to let her have eggs now or should I wait until she is older and do I have to separate the yolk and whites like I did when my son was little or has that "rule" been thrown out too?

Update:

I ask because she loves buttered toast and i was thinking french toast sticks might be a good easy to self feed option for breakfast.

French toast you might get away with, The two big dangers of eggs are salmonella infection which it is possible to get from eggs which are not fully cooked. The second is allergy which is caused by the egg white protein chain which is long and complex. Years ago white of egg wasn't recommended because an immature gut cannot cope with a complex protein chain. It lacks the necessary enzymes, or is short on them.

Originally advice was no eggs until at least 1 year. Latterly the advice is that they are ok if they are cooked. Cooking breaks down the long chain complex protein of the white and avoids the danger of salmonella from the egg but the egg must be properly cooked, not soft boiled.

I just asked this question yesterday on Cafemom because I want to give my 9 month old eggs on easter. This is what I found:

Myth: Infants should only eat the yolk. Egg whites are the most allergenic, which is why, for years, doctors advised only serving infants the yolk. But there's no clear evidence that delaying the introduction of common allergenic foods prevents the development of allergies, serves no purpose that a more recent recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that delaying the introduction of common allergenic foods serves no purpose, even if you have a family history of allergies. What it means: No more separating yolks! Scramble up the whole kit and caboodle whenever your child is ready for solid foods. The exception: If your child has already shown allergic reactions (an allergic rash, for example), talk to your pediatrician about when to introduce eggs.

I read that the reason why not to give eggs is because they might be allergic to it, i forgot if it was the yolk or the white part that tends to be allergic to alot of babies, but they say if you give your baby egg and they don't have an allergic reaction its ok to give them egg. I have a now 10 month old and i gave him egg and he was fine no reaction. But it depends on you i think if you want to alot of people think otherwise and wait till a year. Its up to you i think theres places that will tell you don't and others like you said tell you to give them what you are eating, which is what i personally do.

It's advised to wait until over 1 year of age. Especially if there are allergies in either side of the family.

I think my son was about 9 months when I first gave him scrambled eggs. As with any new food, watch for any reaction.

It's so exciting to give them their first tastes;)

And I think I did seperate the yolk from the whites...It's been a while...

There is not anything improper with permitting them to nest. Yes, the puppy retailer is not going to provide you what you paid for the father and mother, that is how they make their cash. But in view that you set a nest field within it is just common that they might use it. Count your self as lucky :) a few folks desire the birds to reproduce they usually simply perch and seem at each and every different. The finches will do the entire paintings, except it may be a best enjoy in your daughters to observe them hatch and develop. When they fledge, they go away the nest, you'll be able to run an upload within the paper, or name the puppy retailer. Who is aware of, you can be capable to promote the toddlers and purchase extra meals, toys and the entire stuff that make a completely happy healthful hen :)

I gave all 4 of my children egg before they turned 1yr with no problems:) But I know it is recommended only 1 new food in 7-10 days. This way you know which food caused a reaction if 1 does develope.

I've read not to give eggs until babies are a year old. I think they can have egg yolk but not egg white before a year old if you're going to feed them eggs.

My daughter is 7mo and has had scrambled eggs several times and has had no problems. We are following the baby led weaning approach. We have no allergies in our family so we decided to give it a try and she was fine. Everyone has a different opinion on it but so far we have had no issues.

I'll star this so maybe mystic or DYOT will see this and they can give you a better more indepth answer as to why its okay.

I have a two year old and he has been eating eggs since he started eating real food. He loves them and I've never heard any dangers of feeding them to him.

I was told to give her eggs when it was coming close to getting her first booster, that way any allergies to the egg could be established before getting the shot.
