  • Has anyone actually gotten through to storkcraft over the phone?

I'm just curious, it's been 3 days now and I'm still getting the perpetual busy signal when I try to call the toll free or direct line. Has anyone gotten through or do they just have the phones turned off?

  • What is a comperable position after maternity leave?

Hey just wondering if any of you have been in this position or happen to know the law, I can't seem to find exactly what a comparable position is. I am scheduled to return to work on Dec 2nd after being on sickness - pregnancy - parental leave. So by the british columbia labour standards act I have to be given my old job or a comparable position. I just got a call from my boss who told me that they want to put me into different programs in the centre in the next town over from us and instead of working 10:30 - 6:00 I will be working 2:00 - 9:30pm. Can they do that? The wage will be lower, the centre is a 50km round trip from the one I normally work at (which happens to be only 2 blocks from my house) and the hours are completely impossible for me since I have 2 kids one in school and my husband works shift work, what am I supposed to do with my kids until 10:00pm at night? I feel like they are punishing me because I'm pregnant with number 3 and will only be working for at most 6 months before I go on leave again. This was not a planned pregnancy it was a complete surprise as we were using protection and I'm still nursing, the only reason I have to go back to work is because we need the money and I need the hours to qualify for EI again. I don't know what to do. I have to meet with my centre and area director in the morning and I'm just sick about this.

  • 8 month old puppy has started peeing on my bed and everywhere else?

We have an almost 8 month old lhasa apso shitz shu cross, he was relatively easy to house train since we have a dog door and he could go out into the yard when ever he wanted. He is not allowed in the living room most of the time because he would pee on the floor and I can't seem to get it through his head that he can't pee in there, he will do it right in front of us like he doesn't think anything is wrong and we have to keep the gate closed so the baby doesn't take off down the hall way and out the dog door. So anyway keeping out of the living room other then for awhile in the morning and then again at night after my daughter is bed seemed to solve the peeing in the house problem he never peed anywhere else until about a month ago when he started peeing on our bed, I caught him in the act and corrected him and put him outside, after that for 2 days we locked him out of our room at night and then he went for 2 weeks with no problems ( I figured he learnt not to do it) Now a couple of days ago he was in the living room and just hopped up on the kids foam couch and peed all over it, and last night he peed on my bed again. I don't know what to do here, he is a sweet little puppy but I'm at the end of the leash here. any suggestions?

  • can I give powdered acidophilus to my 12 month old? If so how much?

We have the capsules, I was wondering if I can break them open and mix the powder to give to her and if so how much should I give her? she has been battling yeast infections and the cream will clear it up but it keeps coming back so obviously she needs to balance her gut bacteria.

  • Is it ok to give my daughter eggs?

Ok so I know the rules have all changed since my son was little and I'm just not sure about this one.

My daughter is 6 months old and eats baby food and table food, I know that "baby led weaning" style says you can just let baby eat what you are eating, and nutritionists are now saying baby's can have meat at 6 months instead of 8 months like they used to say, but I can't seem to find any info on eggs.

We don't have any egg allergies in our families so is it ok to let her have eggs now or should I wait until she is older and do I have to separate the yolk and whites like I did when my son was little or has that "rule" been thrown out too?

  • animal crossing: city folk friend codes for 6 yr old?

I'm asking here because a lot of you see me on here a lot and know I'm not some creep trying to chat with kids.

My 6yr old just got animal crossing for the Wii and is looking for friends on the game, I don't want to put his friend code out in the regular gaming section because I want him playing with kids not adults or adults pretending to be kids. so if your kid has animal crossing and wants a friend on it please email me and we can swap the codes for them. I'm not going to post his code here for obvious reasons.

We are on pacific time and he usually plays on weekends, or in the morning before he goes to school (he's in afternoon kindergarten)

  • Do you use baby on board signs properly?

I've noticed a lot of people have the sticker ones and I wonder what they do when baby is not in the car. The point of those signs is to alert emergency personnel that there is a baby in the car who can't get out on their own in the event of an accident, and they are supposed to be taken down if baby's not in the care so emt's don't spend time looking for a baby that's not there, but how many people actually do take them out?

Do you take down the baby/child on board signs if baby is not in the car?

  • Would you / Do you force your child to go visit his other parent?

My 6 year old son's father lives about 6 hours away, so he only sees him 4 or 5 times a year. Spring Break in coming up so my son has 2 weeks off of school and the plan was for his Dad to take him for at least 1 week. Now my son doesn't want to go and almost started crying when I told him his Dad wants him to go there. I don't know what to do, I have to admit I would be happier with him home where I know who he's around and that he's being taken care of but his Dad has a right to see him. Is 6 yrs old enough for him to decide if he should go, I don't want to force him to go but he should spend time with his Dad.

  • does sophie the giraffe get teeth marks? Has anyone had a child bit through her?

My little one was trying to steal a sophie the giraffe from another child at playgroup, so I went and bought her one for $22. The little giraffe is great and she loves her, but I'm worried about what will happen when her teeth finally cut. Has anyone had one of these for their child after they cut some teeth, did it get ruined with teeth marks or holes? The rubber is so soft and for $22 I don't want it to get ruined.

  • Dad quit his high paying job and now is not paying child support?

I don't know what to do here, I'm angry and I need some other peoples perspectives on this. My son's dad has always been pretty good about making his support payments, he is a journeyman Ironworker and so made a lot of money ($60,000 +) and our agreement is for $546 per month which was set by the support tables for Alberta (where he lives) now in September he decided to quit his job and try to become a cabinet maker so even though it was going to be harder for my family I allowed him to reduce his payment to $350 per month based on the table amounts for what he would be making at the new job. I'm on Mat leave (receiving Employment Insurance) and my partner has gotten laid off and Employment Insurance is paying for him to go back to school so money is pretty tight right now as EI will only give him the amount we need to pay our essential bills not including car insurance or student loans or any debt minus what I'm receiving on mat leave and what I'm supposed to get for childsupport. Now my ex has run out of work and got a $14 an hour job and has stopped paying child support. He hasn't payed January yet and February is 13 days late. He wont answer the phone when I or my son call him and he screams and swears at me about how he shouldn't be paying and that the money he sends shouldn't be included in our family income. I don't know what to do part of me thinks I should just go to Family Mantenace Enforcment and they can go after him for the money (and pull his licence, wreck his credit or put him in jail if he doesn't pay) but the other part of me understands that money is tight for him too but I'm the one who is worried about keeping a roof over my kid's heads and food in the house while my line of credit and visa bill just keep getting bigger. It seems all he's worried about is himself and he can't even be bothered to talk to his son or visit or anything. I don't want to make a decision out of anger. What would you do?
