Im having troubles finding out what kind of wireless mic and lapel system is compatible with an HVR V1U model?

Does anyone know anything about this? I'm new to electronics and video recording.... a little more seasoned in the editing process, but I have no idea what to do here. I need a wireless mic and lapel with a transmitter for my HVR V1U model. I'm so confused and I dont want to spend a couple hundred bucks on something if its not gonna work with my camera. So, what can I use and what all do I need-- I guess I need to know that too. I just need to pick up the guy whos talking up to 300 ft away from me. Any help? Anyone? Please!

300 feet? The length of a football field from goal line to goal line? Really? Yuk.

The Sony HVR-V1U is a professional grade camcorder with two XLR audio jacks. Download the manual:

If you need the camera to be portable, then you will need a portable base station for the mic. Sony professional audio division makes lavalier mics, body packs and portable base stations. Sennheiser does too.

If the camera is to stay in one position, then you can get away with a less expensive AC powered base station. Shure, Sennheiser and Audio Technica make good lavalier mics, body packs and non-portable base stations. You will also need an XLR mic cable to connect the base station to the camcorder.

The base station(s) plug into the audio in on the top-right side of the V1U.

At the distance you specified you MUST use UHF, full diversity, pro-grade wireless gear. If you don't, you risk picking up all sorts of interference that will make the audio recorded to the camcorder useless.

I own/use Shure wireless stuff - lavaliere + body pack and handheld wireless SM58 mics to non-portable base stations with my HDR-FX1 and HDR-HC1 (along with XLR converters which you don't need from juicedLink and BeachTek). I have used Sennheiser and Sony pro-grade - and like them a LOT, too.

You do know I give piggy back rides to my kids every night don't you? For some reason I think if I gave you a piggy back ride it would be because you're attacking me! >:)
