age to buy a sword in California?

Okay, after I graduate from high school (which is now 3 months in counting) I'm thinking of renting an apartment with 3 other people for college. I will have my own room and am having it Japanese theme.

I found a katana that I want to buy from a store cross state and have it delivered. The thing is, I'm not sure if I'm old enough to buy it. I'm 18 by the way.I could always get my parents to do it, but its going to be more of a hassle having it delivered to their house and i reimburse them.

So is it 18 or 21 that I can purchase any kind of sword?

Update:

Also, if you got any other ideas what I can add in my room?

I'm thinking of having the Katana over the head of the bed.

I've got the traditional paper walls.

All over the walls I will paint kanji.

I can fill my bookshelf with my manga, anime dvds, and my h books

I've got an authentic ninja uniform and my old Karate apparel i can hang

I also have a couple bamboo mats to cover the floor

There is no age limit for buying a sword in California, and even if there was 18 would certainly be old enough. Remember, however, that some martial arts weapons are illegal to possess, including throwing stars and nunchuks.
