Christians: Do you ever wonder why atheists don't generally pick on pagans, wiccans & certain other religions?
Could this be because pagans, wiccans, etc...generally don't condemn people of other lifestyles, they don't preach their faith at others, and they don't try to convert everyone they meet? Could it be because they are faithful to what they actually believe, instead of picking and choosing what's convenient and then berating others for doing the same?
I hear Christians say how they are constantly persecuted. Maybe there are some lessons to be taken from other belief systems and religions.
Sorry Cinnamon. I guess I was being a little too general. I know there are "good" Chrstians. (you & Rusty are two of them). I just meant that certain Christians give the rest a bad name, deserved or not. It's funny that it doesn't work the other way around....but my apologies. I didn't mean to lump everyone into the 'bad' category.

Sorry to disappoint, but I dont condemn anyone for what they believe.
That is their own choice aka free will.
Also have never tried to convert anyone and I am faithful to my own beliefs.
There are always lessons to be learned from most every person no matter what they believe IMO.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Cinn =)
Toasty!! It's okay I know you aren't into generalizing. I was just answering the question and I want to put MM on that good list too and you are right about Rusty, I think he is a sweetheart.
*EDIT* Yes Shredder.. that is very, very true!

The problem is not enough true Christians are out spoken, as in other faiths there are those that give the entire group a bad reputation and unfortunately those are the ones most recognized.
I believe that the basic principles are as true for Christianity as they are for all faiths, love, hope, truth, peace. I live by as a Christian we are called to be in the world sharing, engaging, but not of the world condemning, hating...
Cin, you are on track.

I'm sure that Christians are utterly convinced that they get "picked on" because we're afraid of their "truth". They believe that because their religion warns them that they will be "hated" for their beliefs.
That's a built-in excuse to ignore any criticism.
They never seem to be able to imagine that their beliefs are nothing more than that: Beliefs. Matters of opinion. Ideas without evidence.
Nor do they seem to be able to tolerate the notion that other people might have beliefs different from themselves, or the possibility that they might be wrong. They believe that only yhey have the keys to the universe and that everyone else is misled at best, evil at worst: Their religion tells them so.
It is arrogance, hubris, and self-righteousness, and it is destructive.

I don't think it could be do to everything that you said above.
I have just recently learned from the atheists that they don't believe or put their faith in any God or gods. So how could or why would they preach a faith about a God/gods they don't believe in - to or at others?
And I also just learned (today) from the wiccans that they believe in a god and goddess. However, it's not the Christian God.

Is that why the untouchables who are becoming Christians in India are being persecuted? No, It is because their good life in itself is a condemnation of the evil caste system that holds them in slavery and refuses to minister to their needs in sickness, in birth, in death.

Yeah good point. There's a growing tension amongst Christians and atheists that doesn't exist between atheists and other religions.
It's simple statistics - the more members on either side of the team, the more dramatic the game.

Pagans believe in drinking smoking and fornicating. Pagans are too busy with these three virtues to have time to crticize anyone else's lifestyle unless it imposes on theirs.

That's pretty much it. Wiccans don't demand that everyone believe the way they do. They also don't dogmatically dispute scientific facts.

Probably b/c Christianity is the biggest one and we focus our efforts on it becuase of that.

Exactly. Not to many witches breaking down the door of my kids science classroom to try and force goblin worship on them. The same cannot be said about christians and "ID".
