can i get some tips and pointers for my volleyball try outs?

ok, so i've seen some questions here asking for advice about what to do for their volleyball tryouts but i just want my own answers

now i have no experience what so ever, i am on the tennis team, but would really like to join volleyball

my friends have given me some pointers as to what they did for their try outs for volleyball

i just basically want to know what else i can do or should do besides hitting the ball against an empty wall, setting the ball in the air as many times as i could, bumping the ball as many times as i can

basically... i just want a plan

the plan that i have now is to just practice an hour a day [setting, bumping..etc..] and do some jogging

is there a better plan?

thats a great plan IF you can stick to it. And when you are practicing, make sure you are using the right form, even if it gets boring- you practice how you play

The best advice I can give you is to find someone to practice with. Tryouts go really fast and you will be working with the other girls there to show what you can do. So if you can practice with someone before the tryouts, you will definitely be better prepared.

Also, if you can try to practice with an actual volleyball net.

Good luck! Hope you make the team.

Work on snapping your wrist when you practice spiking. Don't get mad if you have to run or do something, it will only make you better. I know it might be difficult, but try to stay as focused as you can. I'm not saying don't talk to your friends, but pay attention when the coach is talking or during drills. Make eye contact with coach in huddles. Encourage other players. High fives are always a good way to go. Volleyball isn't just a physical sport, it's a mental sport also. You have to visualize it before you can do it. Most players don't even think about visualizing it, they just do!

well you could practice your serving. my volleyball coach was SO on top of us about our serving. it is better to do over hand, but under hand is good. DO NOT SERVE OVERHAND WITH YOUR FIST! huge mistake. also, dont do those dramatic falls at tryouts, because they look kinda weird. also, you could practice spiking the ball. just toss the ball in the air, and smack down. those are the main things since you are already doing bumping and setting. GOOD LUCK! hope you make the team

Basically you got it.You can also work on spiking the ball or serving. They are quite hard to master. For service you need to work on strength and skill to make it over the net and to the other side. Spiking you just have to smack the ball down hard. Practice volleying and gain good control of the ball.

    anyway GOOD LUCK
