Should my new gaming PC run Windows XP or Vista?

Hello,

I'm building a new gaming PC, and I'm debating within myself to install either Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista (64 bit or 32 bit? Which is better for gaming under Vista?). It's been over a year, has Vista show signs of improvement, or should I stay with good old XP? Please note: I will be using dual Graphics cards in my machine.

As far as 32 bit vs 64 bit is concerned, that's entirely dependent on how much RAM you have.

XP and download a Windows 7 beta.

XP XP XP XP. Vista still has way to many problems and as a fellow gamer i hated it. When youre trying to play a game and you get an error it sucks. Anyways Vista has some better graphics bujt it is not worth the trouble to go through and install it. Get XP professional it is a lot better and more efficient.

Catalyst for ATI has a little trouble with Crossfire in Vista. The program itself causes crashes...but they are working on a fix for it. Personally for my games i use Windows XP x64 on my gaming rig, and Windows 7 as a secondary OS (which is a lot better than Vista ever will be)

DirectX 10 is officially only supported on Vista and 7...but can be made to work on XP too.

If you are using or plan to use more than 4GB of memory...then go 64bit...

I'd say go with Vista. I'm a gamer and I'm using Vista and I absolutely LOVE the DirectX10 features. Plus, Vista is pretty slick and much better than XP in my opinion. If you plan to use 4GBs of RAM or more, get Vista 64-bit. Otherwise you'll be ok with 32-bit Vista.

Vista. It really isn't bad. I don't know why everyone hates it, but it is better for gaming. It has DX10 support, not DX9, and depending on which CPU you get, Vista can handle double the amount of threads XP can. But, you should just wait until Windows 7 comes out. It is Vista, just trimmed down and lighter.

The best thing to do is to check for software you're requiring; japanese software would be primarily what I'm referring to with this. Desktop publishing isnt going to be hard to find, there are many programs out for both Windows and OSX. I personally build my PCs and currently run Windows XP however I was given a Macbook for Christmas and actually prefer it over my regular PC. The Mac is extremely easy to use, seems faster and is more secure. You just have to do a little research to see which you would benefit from more, but I would suggest the iMac if you can find the software you require.

If you want graphics the VISTA as it has DX10 although u can get a hacked DX 10 for XP. But if ur happy with DX9 and want performance then XP is the BEst option

    XP.

But Windows 7 is a MAJOR improvement over Vista.. Especially in the compatibility aspect, if you can I'd wait for that.

Personally I would go with Windows XP. Vista still has too many problems.
