Small trophys aren't very expensive and they will engrave them while you wait. I've been playing for 35 years and came within inches of a HIO but alas it has still eluded me.... it IS a big deal. Tell him congrats and I hate him.... :)

You buy drinks for everyone in the clubhouse bar. Other than that I don't know of any other traditions.

Some people buy displays for the scorecard or the ball. Also, assuming it was witnessed and attested, you can submit it to some local papers and regional golf magazines and they'll publish a record of it.

    Congratulations.

I have been playing for over 40 years and have never had one. I think a plaque would be nice to put up in his office or brag wall.

I didn't realize they were so expensive. I did a quick internet search and came up with a couple of sites you can check out.

    http://www.savethemoment.com/plaques-c7.html >$65.00

    http://www.northwestgifts.com/hole-in-one/hole_in_... about $35.00

    Hope this helps.
