Live Each Day......Old Cliche...?

Well it's an old cliche but if everyone in the world lived each day as if it was their last ....would anything actually ever get done in the world?

What do you think?

Do you live by this saying?

i do very much like this cliche, however i don't live by it as much as i'd like to. i think it means that you should never hold back from what you believe in, don't spend your life hiding because you never know when its going to end. if you live each day thinking that you're always gonna have tomorrow to make things better then in the end you're going to be disappointed. don't work hard everyday of your life thinking that you can relax tomorrow because you might not have tomorrow.

be happy with every day of your life and find beauty in it. if you love someone make sure they know it that day becuase they might not be here tomorrow.

It means live a good life and be awake to the experience of life going on around you instead of being buried in worries and fears and regrets. Do the things you know are right and treat others like you want to be treated, being fair and honest so you have few if any regrets at the end of each day.

I don't believe it means don't ever think of tomorrow.

How did you treat the first person you saw today? And everyone else you've encountered so far? Can you go to sleep tonight feeling good about it?

What's going on around you in your immediate world as you read this? What sights and sounds are you experiencing? What and who's around you? Are you inside or outside? What's the weather like? How does the sun or rain or breeze feel on your face? Can you smell the fragrance of growing things? How many different sounds can you hear? Can you hear your own heartbeat if you listen hard enough?

Are you experiencing the "now" or are you so distracted by other things that you don't really know what's going on around you?

That's all part of live each day, imo, and if we all lived like that things would definitely get done in the world and it'd be a better place to live.

If everyone lived as if it was their last day, the world would be chaos. That being said, the world is pretty chaotic now anyways. Living as if you were going to die tomorrow would either bring out the best or worst of yourself. I think it is better to live as if you have some time left. You cannot do everything all at once. You cannot live a good life thinking it will end early.

It's a nice idea, you can take it to mean just enjoy live and dont worry about things so much because they don't matter in the grand scheme of things. But if everybody just lived as if it was their last day, the world really would be chaos. Haha on Simpsons where Homer hears that so he spends the day crying :P

This is no a cliché but a reality. You would see that it is a reality when you actually tried to put it in practice. Firstly, how hard it could be in the start, and secondly, how beneficial, in its outcomes. Once you stick to the routine, as either of your mind’s function, or of you body, the outcomes are of an overall enhanced efficiency. This is natural for us to rise up each morning, live through the full length of a day, and then go to bed for our nightly rest. I think I we stick to the principle of living each day we can bring ourselves in line with the laws of nature. We can mange to stop worrying, or being needlessly apprehensive of the days to come, by concentrating only on today, and we can also see each day as an entire unit, a new opportunity, complete with its cycles of reevaluation and improvement.

I would like to try this for myself!

If each one lives in his present moment how will it affect any thing on the contrary it will reduce unnecessary stress and pride from people.

live in present and dont stick to past and stop worring about the future or you will ruin perfectly good present.

If today were my last day on earth I would spend it ragging on cheesy answers in Yahoo. That is why I never get anything done.

truly their last? i think most would get depressed about all that they'd wish they'd done, and even LESS would get done...why would you start on serious and time consuming projects (the kind that would be needed to truly change the world) if you knew you were gonna die tonight?
