What about a paper on Fragile X Syndrome?

It is the leading known cause of a single gene disorder that can result in autism. Like autism it is a spectrum disorder may result in mild learning disabilities to severe impairment.

It not only affects children with the full mutation but carriers as well, carriers may have FXPOI or FXTAS.

There is a lot of information about it, available on the web, reliable sources listed below.

Research - is exciting with studies being completed at this time that may reverse symptoms and improve cognitive ability, that may also be used to treat other conditions.

I'm an adult (age 18) and have Asperger's, PDD, and ADHD. It does not only exist in children, because it is lifelong. Children with autism will reach age thirty and still be affected. Why are so many adults diagnosed with Asperger's if it is a childhood disorder? Couldn't it have been caught sooner? I think it has something to do with a generation gap. People have become much more knowledgable over the past ten years. Because I was little over ten years ago, it was hard for my doctor to tell with a lack of information. An 8-year-old today is much more likely to be diagnosed.

PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by childhood trauma, such as emotional, physical neglect and/or abuse and /or sexual abuse.

The symptoms are bed wetting, nightmares, low self worth, low grades, misbehavior, hyper-vigilance, sometimes hyper-sexual or unusual fears as well as other symptoms.

Another childhood disorder is Attachment Disorder which makes a child unable to respond to affection or to get close in relationship to others due to emotional or physical abandonment issues during early childhood, due to divorce, separation from parents and multiple foster homes. The symptoms are similar to the PTSD symptoms as well as the lack of responsiveness.

I hope this is helpful I suggest you follow up with looking these up in case I missed anything in description.

    FAS - Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

    That's a pretty interesting, hot-topic developmental disorder.
