we have an 8 slot hub, where is the best slot to connect my computer in?

    With 8 ports, I hope that came with an AC power adapter.

    If it doesn't, and you start connecting a bunch of USB devices into the hub, you're going to run out of juice!

    A computer's USB 2.0 port can only provide a maximum of 500 mA.

    Usually there is one plug that's marked as the one you are supposed to plug into your computer. Mine has a special plug on the back that has a USB on one side (for my computer) and a plug that looks sort of like a printer cable (that plugs into the hub).

    Read the directions that came with the hub if that's not clear.
