Careers in the art field?
I’m a very artistic person and I want to go to college so I can get a career that has something to do with art. The problem is I’m told that most art careers are dead-ended, don’t make a livable income (or that the pay is unsatisfying), and those careers are not in demand. Art restorator and graphic design our out of the question. Does anybody have any knowledge experience with this field?
p.s. I’m good at painting

Why is graphic design out of the question. My pay is great and I love my job. Plus it's no harder getting a graphic design job that it is doing any other job in this economy. I would take a second look at the people who are giving you your career information because it doesn't sound like they've done their research.
If painting is your thing you may be able to make a decent living as a corporate artist. Companies all over the country (and world) hire artists all the time to make paintings and sculptures for their offices, lobbies, waiting rooms, conference rooms, and corporate headquarters.
It's a tough gig and very competitive, but besides design, it's going to be your second best bet.

if you are good at your job your income is good too! If you suck thats something different. Last year I went to AAUs pre college program and our drawing teacher told us he was earning 2 tausend for each class at the academy.
so if you are talented i say go for it girl.
