Do ferrets get quieter with age?

I have a three-month-old Marshall ferret and he's quite vocal when I leave him alone. How do I teach him not to screech when he's left alone?

If he's new, it'll take time. He has to learn to trust his environment, and he may just be trying to call you back since he's nervous. Once he does, he'll quiet down. If he's very loud when he's alone and when he's with company, he could be deaf or have a hearing impairment. Deaf ferrets tend to be very vocal, since they don't realize they are making sound, and they also startle more easily (thus can be considered 'nippier' in the beginning).
